Man Utd Icon Warns Benjamin Sesko Faces Uphill Battle for Success

Ex-Manchester United forward Louis Saha has outlined why Benjamin Šeško may face "difficulties" in his first campaign at Old Trafford.

Šeško moved to the Red Devils for £74 million from RB Leipzig during the summer transfer window as United looked for offensive reinforcements, with the 22-year-old brought in to address the club's finishing woes.

The Slovenian striker netted 39 times over two campaigns at Leipzig and has been earmarked for greatness since his youth, though Saha anticipates the forward will encounter early challenges in his United journey due to insufficient creative support.

"I believe he has the ability if the coach can establish that connection between the midfield and the striker," commented the former France international, who made 124 appearances for United, speaking on The Athletic FC Podcast. "Sadly, we didn't secure the central midfielder we needed. Therefore, we remain quite vulnerable in that area. This is precisely why I expect Sesko might face some difficulties until we address that issue.

"He possesses the attributes because he's tall, he'll find the net with headers, and he's highly skilled technically too. His positioning and movement are excellent, so I'm certain he'll create opportunities and convert them.

"However, to reach our objectives, I don't believe that responsibility falls on him alone. Those two creative players, [Matheus] Cunha and [Bryan] Mbeumo, must step up quickly, [or else] you'll witness Sesko facing challenges as well."

United have already appeared more dynamic in attack with Cunha and Mbeumo operating in advanced midfield positions, though their failure to acquire a central midfielder continues to be problematic. Brighton & Hove Albion's Carlos Baleba was their main objective but remained financially out of reach.

Šeško has featured four times—with three substitute appearances—and has yet to find the back of the net. He'll be eager to prove Saha's predictions incorrect and swiftly start scoring for the Red Devils.
