Man Utd Legends Unleash Brutal Attack on Lisandro Martinez in Explosive War of Words
Nicky Butt and Paul Scholes have responded harshly to recent statements made by Manchester United defender Lisandro Martínez, stating the Argentine player should "f------ grow up."
The debate between Old School and New School approaches has been an ongoing concern at United recently, with Martínez becoming the latest figure caught up in a verbal dispute with elements of Old Trafford's legacy after receiving criticism from Butt and Scholes, who forecasted the Argentine would be tossed around like a "little toddler" by Manchester City's Erling Haaland during the recent Manchester derby.
Following Martínez's skillful management of the City forward, he dared Butt and Scholes to "visit his residence" and express their concerns directly.
Martínez's display earned commendation from Butt and Scholes during their following episode of The Good, The Bad & The Football, before the former United duo chose to respond to Martínez's original reaction.
"For me, we speak like guys in a pub having a discussion," Butt started. "It's tongue in cheek.
"I believe when individuals become so offended about someone in the media or on a podcast ... saying "visit my residence," it's like 'f------ grow up.'
"If you're going to become so emotional about someone making comments about you and respond like that, you shouldn't be at a major football club.
"I'm telling you right now he's gonna receive that for the remainder of his career at Man Utd. You're going to experience your highs, you're going to experience your lows. I received so much c--- when I played at Man Utd and Newcastle but then the following week you get praised."
Butt continued: "I'm 50 years old, I'm not going knocking on someone's door saying "can we have a discussion?'
"It's just absurd ... and if you're going to become that sensitive, you better be s--- hot every week."
Scholes Reveals Previous Private Clash With Martínez
Scholes Discloses Earlier Private Confrontation With Martínez

Scholes, on the other hand, acknowledged the pair could have phrased their remarks about Martínez more carefully, but supported Butt by maintaining that criticism comes with the territory when you represent United.
The former midfield genius then proceeded to disclose a previous confrontation with Martínez which he had originally chosen to keep confidential.
"We traded messages on Instagram quite a while back," Scholes revealed. "He wasn't pleased with something I mentioned previously. I wouldn't have mentioned this typically but he's spoken out and made statements so why not?
"He stated he'd lost all forms of respect for me. As Nicky mentioned two minutes earlier, you're at Man Utd, arguably the largest club globally. At some stage, as we experienced as players, you are gonna face some criticism. You've got to handle that."
