Man Utd Make Official Move for Champions League-Winning Goalkeeper as Transfer Interest Intensifies

Manchester United are actively pursuing goalkeeper reinforcements, with reports suggesting the club has made contact with Paris Saint-Germain regarding Gianluigi Donnarumma's potential availability.

The Red Devils submitted an inquiry to the Champions League holders during the current transfer window and maintain their interest in securing a deal, according to The Telegraph.

PSG are targeting Lille's Lucas Chevalier and appear aware that United may return with an offer for Donnarumma should their pursuit materialize.

The Italian shot-stopper played a crucial role in PSG's historic Champions League triumph last season. With only one year remaining on his current deal, the club would reportedly consider offers at the right valuation, though they would be content to retain his services.

Manchester United's goalkeeper concerns are widely recognized. Previous boss Erik ten Hag released David de Gea in 2023, recruiting his former Ajax keeper André Onana. The Cameroonian has faced difficulties adapting to English football, and Ruben Amorim may seek alternatives this summer. United also showed interest in Aston Villa's Emiliano Martínez, even proposing a loan arrangement. However, Villa are believed to prefer only a permanent transfer.

Royal Antwerp's Belgian goalkeeper Senne Lammens has similarly been connected with a potential Old Trafford transfer, with the player openly acknowledging interest in such a move.

Onana is currently sidelined with a hamstring problem, ruling him out of the ongoing Premier League Summer Series tour across the United States. Amorim has utilized both Altay Bayındır and Tom Heaton in their opening two matches, with the former expected to feature in Atlanta on August 3.

Onana is working to regain fitness for the Premier League season opener versus Arsenal on August 17, though his starting position may be under threat if circumstances align.
