Man Utd Outcast Spills Details on Shocking Thomas Tuchel Conversation About England Comeback

Manchester United's Mason Mount has disclosed specifics about an unexpected telephone conversation with England boss Thomas Tuchel, sparking optimism for his first national team return in over two years.
Mount's most recent England appearance occurred during the World Cup quarter-final defeat against France in December 2022. The following summer saw the Portsmouth native transfer to Manchester United, where fitness issues have hindered his performances at both club and international level.
During the closing months of the previous campaign, Mount finally recovered his physical condition to participate in United's final 14 matches. The 26-year-old aims for an expanded role in the upcoming season, which might result in his much-anticipated England comeback.
This journey commenced with Tuchel's phone call. "He contacted me and mentioned he was reaching out to numerous players for a general catch-up," Mount shared during United's pre-season American tour. "I'm unsure exactly how many players he contacted, perhaps 40 or 50. However, it was pleasant to see him and have that conversation."
During his successful tenure at Chelsea, Tuchel utilized Mount more frequently than any other squad member, though there's no indication this preference will continue.

"I featured regularly under his management," Mount reflected. "We secured the Champions League victory, which was certainly positive. However, I believe the England situation is completely different now; the competition for positions and the pool of players available differs significantly from club football. Therefore, I don't think the two correlate directly.
"He told me, 'There are no assurances, despite our previous working relationship.' But it provides additional motivation. You want to push yourself even harder to earn a squad place. So it was genuinely beneficial to speak with him and understand his preparations.
"He appeared very enthusiastic and energetic, just as I recalled, and was thoroughly excited about his new position."
Mount faces substantial competition for an England starting position. Jude Bellingham and Declan Rice are virtually certain of midfield roles, while Aston Villa's Morgan Rogers has made a strong impression during Tuchel's initial matches. Even experienced Jordan Henderson has managed to secure a place in the international setup, which also features Cole Palmer, Phil Foden, Eberechi Eze, Morgan Gibbs-White and numerous others.
England face two World Cup qualifying matches against Andorra and Serbia in early September, with additional training camps scheduled for October and November.
