Manchester United have unveiled their brand-new away strip for the 2026–27 campaign, paying homage to the club's heritage with the reintroduction of a royal blue base.
Dating back to the club's origins as Newton Heath, bright blue has long been part of the team's color palette, becoming a staple of away and third kits throughout the 1920s. Over recent years, some of their most iconic alternate shirts have featured blue, though such a vivid shade hasn't been seen since the 2014–15 season.
Sharp-eyed supporters may have caught their first look at United's new away kit during the 2026 World Cup final, when British rapper Stormzy, a well-known Red Devils fan, inadvertently revealed the new shirt on social media while wearing it to the match.
Just days later, United have officially unveiled the striking new design, which also incorporates the adidas Trefoil logo as an additional retro touch.
Red and white detailing across the v-neck collar and cuffs make a bold statement, complemented by three red adidas stripes running down the sleeve. These design elements are echoed on the shorts and socks, both finished in the same royal blue hue.
When Will Man Utd First Wear New Away Kit?

United have not confirmed a specific debut date for the new away kit, which is already on sale, but supporters will be eager to see it worn in competitive action during the preseason period.
Michael Carrick's squad donned their new home kit during their preseason opener, a 1–0 loss to Wrexham, and are set to return to action on Friday against Norwegian outfit Rosenborg.
As the visiting team for that fixture in Norway, there is every chance United could debut the new strip at the earliest opportunity, though conventional kit protocols are frequently overlooked during unofficial friendlies like these.

United have confirmed two additional friendlies as part of their Scandinavian tour, taking on Atlético Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain in Sweden in early August, before traveling to the Republic of Ireland to face Leeds United on Aug. 12.
The curtain comes down on United's preseason schedule with a reunion of sorts. Former boss Ruben Amorim, now at the helm of AC Milan, will be looking to settle scores in Wrocław, Poland, on Aug. 15 — just one week before United kick off their Premier League season away at Hull City.
