Man Utd vs. Brentford: Key Player Returns to Boost Squad—Latest Injury Updates & Expected Starting XI

Man Utd vs. Brentford: Key Player Returns to Boost Squad—Latest Injury Updates & Expected Starting XI

Manchester United have the opportunity to edge closer to securing their return to the Champions League with a win against Brentford on Monday evening.

United's hard-earned triumph over Chelsea pushed them up to 58 points with five fixtures remaining—a 10-point gap over the Blues in sixth. Brighton & Hove Albion now occupy that position after defeating Chelsea 3–0 during the week, a result that cost Liam Rosenior his managerial role. A United victory would extend their lead to 11 points with only four games left—an almost certainly unassailable buffer.

United will be laser-focused on the challenge ahead as they host a Brentford side very much in the hunt for a top-six finish. Keith Andrews's team are notoriously difficult to beat, though they've also struggled to claim victories of late—their last five Premier League outings have all finished level.

Harry Maguire's Well-Timed Comeback

Harry Maguire

United managed to keep Chelsea at bay despite being short on center-back options. With Harry Maguire and Lisandro Martínez both suspended and Leny Yoro sidelined through injury, natural fullback Noussair Mazraoui and Ayden Heaven were called upon to deliver a crucial Premier League clean sheet for the 13-time champions.

They rose to the occasion, but Mazraoui is expected to return to the bench now that Maguire is back in contention. Martínez remains suspended following his hair-pull on Dominic Calvert-Lewin, while Yoro is a doubt, potentially giving Heaven another opportunity to start.

Matthijs de Ligt and Patrick Dorgu remain sidelined with back and hamstring injuries respectively.

Man Utd Predicted Lineup vs. Brentford

Man Utd predicted lineup

GK: Senne Lammens—Despite being tested by 21 shots at Stamford Bridge, Lammens was truly called into action only three times. The Belgian will be hoping for another relatively straightforward night when Brentford come to town.

RB: Diogo Dalot—Dalot effectively neutralized former teammate Alejandro Garnacho last weekend, but faces a tougher test against the pacey Kevin Schade, who has contributed 10 goal involvements in the league this season.

CB: Harry Maguire—Mazraoui did a commendable job filling in at center back, but Maguire's return is a significant boost ahead of facing the division's second-highest scorer, Igor Thiago.

CB: Ayden Heaven—Heaven grew in stature during the Chelsea match and played his part in earning a clean sheet. Carrick will likely need him again should Yoro remain unavailable.

LB: Luke Shaw—Shaw will extend his run of starting every Premier League game this season, a remarkable achievement given the Englishman's well-documented injury struggles.

CM: Casemiro—With just three Old Trafford appearances remaining before his summer exit, Casemiro will be a tough act to follow after an outstanding campaign in the heart of midfield.

CM: Kobbie Mainoo—It's hard to fathom that Ruben Amorim once had doubts about Mainoo. The young midfielder was outstanding against Chelsea and remains a key influence under Carrick.

RW: Bryan Mbeumo—Mbeumo is going through a difficult patch after a bright start under Carrick. He's gone eight games without a goal and has been overshadowed by those around him in attack.

AM: Bruno Fernandes—All attention turns to Fernandes as he pursues the Premier League single-season assist record. Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne both reached 20, while the United captain currently sits on 18.

LW: Matheus Cunha—The architect of the winning goal against Chelsea, Cunha consistently delivers quality—even when deployed in the less familiar left wing position for the Red Devils.

ST: Benjamin Šeško—Šeško risks being typecast as an impact substitute, with the summer signing frequently appearing more influential when introduced from the bench.
