Manchester United host Nottingham Forest in their last home fixture of the 2025–26 campaign, with Old Trafford set to give midfielder Casemiro a send-off after four seasons at the club.
United's midfield stalwart has delivered an impressive final campaign in Manchester, and the club intend to make signing his successor a priority this summer. Casemiro's dead-ball ability and goal contributions have played an underappreciated part in the club's resurgence under Michael Carrick's management.
The Brazilian is among those who have publicly backed Carrick for the permanent role, and recent reports indicate the United board will act on that sentiment. The Red Devils, having secured Champions League qualification, are planning to continue with their former midfield cornerstone in the dugout.
Casemiro Fit for Old Trafford Farewell

Casemiro had been a concern for his farewell appearance at Old Trafford after sitting out last week's draw at Sunderland with an injury, but the Brazilian returned to full training during the week and is expected to line up alongside Kobbie Mainoo this weekend.
Manuel Ugarte's unavailability at the Stadium of Light saw Mason Mount partner Mainoo the previous Saturday. The Uruguayan has since overcome a back problem, though the same cannot be said for Matthijs de Ligt, who has been sidelined since November.
Benjamin Šeško's persistent shin complaint forced him off at the interval of the 3–2 victory over Liverpool, and he was absent from the travelling squad to Wearside on the last occasion. The Slovenian forward remains a doubt ahead of Forest's visit.
Joshua Zirkzee stepped in for Šeško as United's central striker last time out, but Carrick may opt for Bryan Mbeumo on home turf, despite the forward's recent dip in form.
Man Utd Predicted Lineup vs. Nottingham Forest

GK: Senne Lammens—After a costly mistake against Liverpool, Lammens regained his composure at the Stadium of Light, with a low-key encounter offering little in the way of goalmouth action.
RB: Diogo Dalot—The Portugal international was given a breather last weekend as Noussair Mazraoui made an uncommon Premier League appearance. Dalot is expected to reclaim his spot in Carrick's starting XI this weekend.
CB: Harry Maguire—Maguire is staking his claim for a place in Thomas Tuchel's England squad ahead of this summer's World Cup. The final selection will be announced next Friday.
CB: Lisandro Martínez—Despite Ayden Heaven's encouraging displays, Martínez was always going to slot back in at the earliest opportunity following his three-match ban. The Argentine has built a strong understanding with Maguire.
LB: Luke Shaw—Shaw has beaten the odds this season by establishing himself as a constant fixture on the left side of United's backline. Despite occasional fitness worries, the left back has featured in every Premier League match. It will be fascinating to see how he handles the return of Champions League football to Manchester in 2026–27.
CM: Casemiro—Casemiro's departure will leave a significant gap in United's midfield, and while there have been moments when the Brazilian appeared to be fading, he will be fondly remembered by the Theatre of Dreams for his four years of dedication in Manchester.
CM: Kobbie Mainoo—Mainoo will feel the absence of such a seasoned presence alongside him in the seasons ahead. His next midfield partner could well be lining up for the opposition this Sunday.
RW: Amad Diallo—The Ivorian has found it difficult to hit top gear this season and has been notably subdued in recent outings. Nevertheless, another opportunity to make an impression from the start could come on Sunday.
AM: Bruno Fernandes—Time is running out for Fernandes as he chases the seemingly untouchable Premier League single-season assist record. Four of his last five assists have come at Old Trafford, and he'll be looking to add to that tally against a Forest side with nothing left to play for.
LW: Matheus Cunha—Cunha's debut season hasn't been without its challenges, but he has grown into a dependable performer in big matches for United under Carrick's guidance.
ST: Bryan Mbeumo—The out-of-form Cameroonian has shown his best qualities in a central position this season, and Benjamin Šeško's potential absence may hand Mbeumo the opportunity to lead the line for United on Sunday.
