Man Utd's Midfield Target Drops Bombshell With Cryptic Two-Word Transfer Hint
With mounting rumors linking him to a possible Manchester United move, Conor Gallagher has confessed his dissatisfaction with his current situation at Atlético Madrid.
The England midfielder joined the Spanish club before the 2024–25 campaign, leaving Chelsea behind after featuring in 95 matches for the London side. What began as an encouraging La Liga journey for Gallagher has gradually deteriorated, as the player finds it difficult to secure a place in Diego Simeone's starting lineup.
The 25-year-old has only managed three competitive starts for Los Rojiblancos this term, sparking transfer speculation about a return to English football, with Manchester United reportedly at the front of the queue as they seek to strengthen their midfield options.
"I'm not satisfied," Gallagher revealed regarding his circumstances at Atlético Madrid during an exclusive conversation with AS.
"I don't believe anyone would be content if they're not getting the playing time they desire, but I'll continue putting in maximum effort to contribute to the squad whenever possible, and hopefully more chances to start will arise."
Simeone has repeatedly chosen Pablo Barrios over Gallagher as Atlético Madrid maintain their climb up the La Liga table following an underwhelming season opener. The former Chelsea player, however, has mostly watched from the sidelines during the club's impressive 11-match undefeated streak in Spain's premier division.
Man Utd Are in the Market for a Midfield Reinforcement

The Manchester club prioritized strengthening their attacking options during the summer window, acquiring Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha and Benjamin Šeško. The significant investment in forward players left limited resources for United to also secure a desperately needed central midfielder.
Ruben Amorim's team is believed to be keen on addressing this oversight when the January market reopens, with Gallagher frequently mentioned as a target for the record 20-time English league winners.
The English international would offer his precise distribution, defensive capabilities and tireless energy to Manchester United, providing Amorim with a more adaptable alternative to Manuel Ugarte, who has failed to establish himself since arriving in Manchester.
Nevertheless, Gallagher downplayed speculation about a potential departure, declaring, "I'm very content here. My objective is to capture trophies with Atléti and I want to secure a more prominent position in the squad. And, as I've mentioned, I'm going to continue working with maximum dedication to earn more playing time and assist the team."
