Man Utd's Sesko Eyes Comeback: Latest Updates on Star Striker's Recovery Journey

Benjamin Šeško's inconsistent beginning to his Manchester United journey has suffered another setback due to a knee problem that will likely sideline him until December.

The Slovenian striker has been monitored by the Red Devils since 2018, when he was merely 15 years old, but had to wait until this past summer to finally make his Old Trafford debut. Despite significant interest from Newcastle United, Šeško chose to accept reduced wages to secure his move to Manchester. The 22-year-old remains committed to succeeding at the club, dedicating extra hours at the training facility both before and after regular practice sessions, though he continues to search for his breakthrough moment.

At the beginning of November, with Šeško having netted just two goals in 12 outings, Ruben Amorim acknowledged: "I comprehend the nature of football and he will face difficulties. This is expected. He lacks experience in this environment." The following match saw Šeško's challenges intensify even further.

United's summer acquisition lacked the fitness to complete a chaotic 2–2 stalemate at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium following an uncomfortable collision while reaching for an elusive goal.

Amorim expressed immediate worries about the extent of Šeško's knee problem right after the match concluded, and additional details regarding the striker's condition have subsequently emerged.

Šeško is dealing with a knee problem for the first time in his professional career. The lanky forward has maintained an exceptionally clean injury record throughout his career, missing only one match during two complete seasons at RB Leipzig.

The most challenging period injury-wise for Šeško occurred during the 2021–22 season when he was still 18 years old. While adapting to his tall frame, the Slovenian striker experienced several muscle-related problems and was absent for 14 matches total. His current knee issue will not be as prolonged.

The recovery period for Šeško has been estimated at three to five weeks, as reported by The Athletic. Considering the serious tone of Amorim's initial assessment, this represents a relatively brief absence.

According to the projected comeback timeline, United should be able to utilize their €85 million (£74.9 million, $98.6 million) summer acquisition sometime in December. Should the recovery take the full five weeks, Šeško might be available for selection against Bournemouth on Dec. 15.

Due to the condensed holiday fixture list, the athletic Slovenian striker could potentially miss as many as four fixtures. Nevertheless, he should return to availability before United's contingent of African players leaves for AFCON at December's end.
