Manchester Derby Erupts as United and City Clash Over Bundesliga Sensation
Both Manchester City and Manchester United are reportedly pursuing Bayern Munich's midfield talent Aleksandar Pavlović, as revealed by sources in Germany.
Having come through Bayern's youth system, the 21-year-old has become a key figure in the senior squad, accumulating 62 matches in all competitions since emerging during the early stages of the 2023–24 season.
Currently a regular in Vincent Kompany's starting eleven, Pavlović's performances have attracted attention from several European clubs, with BILD highlighting substantial interest from both Manchester clubs.
United, who are understood to be seeking midfield reinforcements following their brief summer pursuit of Brighton & Hove Albion's Carlos Baleba, have reportedly initiated discussions with Pavlović's agents.
Nevertheless, the most serious interest in Pavlović appears to originate from City, who have positioned the German international near the summit of their recruitment targets due to questions surrounding Rodri's long-term commitment.

Rodri's existing deal runs until 2027 with no indication of renewal discussions. While City expressed their intention to offer Rodri improved terms during the summer, reports quickly emerged suggesting the 2024 Ballon d'Or recipient remains uncertain about extending his stay, recognizing that doing so could eliminate his opportunity to join Real Madrid.
Consequently, City have entered the race alongside United for Pavlović's services, though it's emphasized that the 21-year-old is not presently contemplating leaving Bayern.
Pavlović remains under contract with Bayern through 2029 and is content with his role as a consistent starter. While a facial injury initially disrupted his season, he has since regained his position in Kompany's team, featuring in the previous four matches across all competitions.
Preliminary reports from Spain suggested Pavlović's valuation at approximately €50 million (£43.6 million, $58.6 million), though Bayern would likely demand a substantially higher transfer fee given the lengthy duration remaining on his contract.
