Manchester United Abandons Record-Breaking Documentary After Disastrous Season

Manchester United have allegedly canceled negotiations for an Amazon Prime all-access documentary series planned for the upcoming season.
The Red Devils generated numerous negative headlines during the previous campaign after securing their worst-ever 15th position in the Premier League standings. United managed to secure only 11 league victories, with merely six wins occurring under new manager Ruben Amorim's leadership. The English club also suffered defeat in the Europa League final against Tottenham Hotspur.
The chaos surrounding one of football's most prestigious institutions drew worldwide attention, leading to reports of a potential documentary series being developed for the 2025-26 campaign.
The Athletic disclosed that Manchester United engaged in "confidential discussions" with Amazon Prime regarding participation in the newest installment of the "All or Nothing" franchise for a fee exceeding £10 million ($13.64 million). This amount would have represented the highest payment ever made to a club for documentary participation, however the Red Devils withdrew from negotiations.
David Ornstein indicates the withdrawal was primarily attributed to Amorim's concerns about the "possible interference" with team operations. Manchester United also considered the commercial terms and the "scheduling constraints" of the new venture before the 2025-26 season.
The Premier League club has implemented various cost-reduction strategies throughout the past year as financial difficulties have overshadowed the organization. The substantial documentary payment could have provided significant financial relief, but ultimately failed to overcome Manchester United's wider reservations about the comprehensive access arrangement.
The initiative was eventually considered an "unnecessary disruption" by Amorim and the club concurred. Indeed, having camera crews documenting Manchester United's every action during their most challenging period would probably not have enhanced the club's current reputation.
Manchester United must now continue selling players to generate revenue. The 20-time English title winners are seeking to transfer André Onana, Alejandro Garnacho, Marcus Rashford and others while hoping to construct a squad capable of competing for trophies in the coming years.
