Manchester United Drops Four Players from US Pre-Season Squad in Major Roster Shake-Up

Manchester United head to the United States this week for the Premier League Summer Series, though they'll make the journey without four players that Ruben Amorim is eager to offload.

Alejandro Garnacho, Jadon Sancho, Tyrell Malacia and Antony have all been excluded from the pre-season traveling party. Each of these four has been subject to transfer speculation this summer window, and their absence from the touring squad underscores United's intention to sell.

This move follows the acquisitions of former Brentford attacker Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha as Amorim reshapes his forward line. Mbeumo joins the traveling party and may feature in his first appearance in America this weekend at MetLife Stadium.

Man Utd have adjusted their valuation for Garnacho, reducing the potential transfer fee by almost half in an effort to speed up his exit. The Argentine has shown interest in staying within England this window, with Aston Villa, Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur all reportedly interested.

Antony continues to be linked with a return to Real Betis following his successful loan stint during the latter half of the previous season. The Brazilian was instrumental in their sixth-place La Liga campaign and their journey to the UEFA Conference League final.

Malacia, similar to Antony, spent the second portion of last season on loan with PSV Eindhoven. The Dutch fullback has managed just three league outings for the Red Devils since his recovery from knee surgery.

Sancho was absent from Amorim's plans last season as previous boss Erik ten Hag had sent the England winger on loan to Chelsea. Sancho featured in 31 league matches for the Blues and appeared as a substitute in the UEFA Conference League final. Following Chelsea's decision not to exercise their purchase option in his loan agreement, they paid compensation to return the player to the Red Devils. The former Borussia Dortmund player's turbulent quest for consistent playing time persists this summer.

Man Utd journey to the U.S. to meet West Ham United, Bournemouth and Everton in the Premier League Summer Series. This tournament represents their final major tour this summer ahead of their last preparation match against Fiorentina.
