Manchester United Places Price Tag on Andre Onana as Goalkeeper's Exit Becomes Inevitable

Manchester United have allegedly placed a £30 million ($40.8 million) valuation on their primary goalkeeper André Onana for this summer transfer window, though the Cameroonian is expected to remain at the club following an initial bid rejection.

Onana arrived at United two seasons ago after an impressive campaign with Inter Milan. Nevertheless, the former Ajax keeper has faced challenges since stepping into the spotlight at Old Trafford, with his sophomore season proving more troublesome than his debut year.

His inconsistent performances led Ruben Amorim to test backup option Altay Bayındır, though the Turkish goalkeeper has also failed to solve United's goalkeeping concerns.

Although the Red Devils have focused on strengthening their attacking options—having managed only 44 Premier League goals in the previous campaign—during the early summer transfer period, they're also anticipated to acquire a potential replacement for Onana before the 2025–26 season commences.

The Cameroonian remains uncertain about his future prospects, with interest emerging from French Ligue 1 club AS Monaco. Based on reports from the Daily Mail, United are prepared to accept a financial loss on Onana to facilitate his departure this summer. They reportedly demanded £30 million—significantly less than the £47.2 million ($64.2 million) invested two years prior—when Monaco made inquiries about their number one keeper last month. The Monaco club declined to meet that asking price.

Currently, it appears probable that Onana will stay at Old Trafford, as confirmed by The Telegraph, though considerable time remains for circumstances to change. Saudi Pro League team FC Neom had been mentioned as a possible destination for the 29-year-old, but they have recently secured a new first-choice goalkeeper from Nice in Marcin Bułka.

Manchester United have reportedly been evaluating various potential successors, including Aston Villa's Emiliano Martínez and Atalanta's Marco Carnesecchi. Botafogo's John has also attracted their attention, although Everton are reportedly competing for his services as well.
