Marcus Rashford Drops Bombshell Hint About Potential Manchester United Departure

Marcus Rashford has emphasized that he's not currently contemplating the possibility of making his Barcelona move permanent after his loan transfer from Manchester United.

United had hoped to sell Rashford completely during the summer transfer window, but the England forward's strong desire to join the Catalan club forced them to accept an initial loan arrangement, though Barcelona retain an option to secure a permanent transfer for a reported €35 million (£30.5 million, $40.5 million).

Rashford has integrated well with his new squad, scoring his debut goal and providing his first assist while wearing Barcelona colors in their most recent two matches. Following Barcelona's concluding training session on Asian territory, the 27-year-old emphasized his focus on savoring the coming campaign.

"I'm not considering next season [2026–27]," Rashford shared with reporters. "I aim to perform at my highest level for this team during my time here, and then we'll evaluate the situation."

For Rashford to demonstrate his value to Barcelona, the club must initially secure his registration to compete in La Liga, something they haven't yet accomplished with under two weeks remaining before their title defense begins. Nevertheless, this situation doesn't worry Rashford, who stays optimistic about his availability when the season commences.

The Catalans are fresh off capturing a domestic treble during Hansi Flick's inaugural season at the helm. Still, there's a widespread sentiment that additional silverware slipped away with a devastating Champions League semifinal elimination. Upon his arrival, Rashford already understands the team's determination to ensure Europe's most coveted continental prize returns to Barcelona.

"Hopefully we can advance one step beyond last year's achievement and attempt to claim the Champions League trophy as well," he pledged.

Rashford and Barcelona will head back to Europe to contest the Joan Gamper Trophy on Aug. 10, their concluding preseason fixture before their La Liga season opener away against Mallorca.
