Marcus Rashford's Potential Barcelona Wages Would Rank Among Club's Highest Earners

Marcus Rashford's substantial Manchester United wages and Barcelona's ongoing financial struggles seem like an impossible combination at first glance. However, the Spanish giants have consistently demonstrated their ability to make the seemingly impossible work.
Poor financial decisions from past (and present) leadership have left Barça in a constant state of economic pressure. Club president Joan Laporta has employed every available strategy, from activating economic levers to selling premium hospitality packages, to keep La Blaugrana competitive in the transfer window, and despite concerns about the long-term viability of these methods, they have provided temporary solutions.
Hansi Flick's team doesn't require extensive squad overhaul this summer following their impressive campaign, but acquiring a left-wing attacker was identified as a key priority.
Nico Williams and Luis Díaz were among the expensive targets considered, and although the club has shifted toward a loan arrangement for Rashford, their apparent readiness to shoulder the English player's wages during his time in Catalonia suggests the club will once again challenge La Liga's financial regulations.
The English striker certainly wasn't receiving modest compensation at United.

Including Rashford, nine of Barcelona's 10 top earners secured their current contracts after Laporta's return to the presidency in 2021. Only Frenkie de Jong's deal dates back to the notorious Josep Maria Bartomeu era—and the club is reportedly working tirelessly to negotiate fresh terms with the Dutch midfielder.
Rashford's reported £325,000 weekly wages would have totaled £16.9 million (€19.5 million, $22.7 million) per year, positioning the English forward as Barcelona's second-highest paid player next season, surpassing De Jong.
Nevertheless, the winger has allegedly accepted a 15% reduction from his United earnings and will receive €14 million at Barcelona next season.
Only Robert Lewandowski, De Jong, Lamine Yamal and Raphinha (€14.6 million) command higher salaries than Rashford. The England star will probably earn marginally more than Jules Koundé, plus Pedri and Ronald Araújo, who both signed profitable contract renewals in 2025.
Although Barcelona's payroll will rise from last season due to Yamal's new contract and Rashford's addition, the club has moved on Ansu Fati and his €14 million ($16.3 million) wages. Andreas Christensen—believed to earn €9 million ($10.5 million) annually—has also been connected with a potential departure.
Rashford essentially serves as Fati's direct successor both economically and tactically. The club hopes the England international can deliver significantly more value to Hansi Flick's squad than the formerly promising Spaniard, who barely participated for the La Liga winners last season, accumulating just 303 minutes across all competitions.
