Mbappe and Vinicius Junior Face Critical Discussions Following Club World Cup Performances

Real Madrid's new manager Xabi Alonso plans to have individual discussions with Kylian Mbappé and Vinicius Junior regarding their problematic behavior on the pitch, according to Spanish media reports.
Previous manager Carlo Ancelotti frequently alluded to difficulties with both Mbappé and Vinicius's commitment levels during the previous campaign, and the devastating 4–0 loss against Paris Saint-Germain in the Club World Cup semifinal has convinced many that these same issues persist under Alonso's leadership.
MARCA reports that several senior Madrid executives are troubled by the team's poor coordination and inability to function cohesively in defensive situations—starting with what appears to be insufficient effort from Mbappé and Vinicius in offensive phases.
Following claims that the star pair are reluctant to set aside their personal pride to perform unglamorous tasks without possession, Alonso plans to meet with both players to reinforce a message he delivered during the summer months.
Between the two players, Vinicius presents the more serious concern. An ongoing public contract dispute is believed to have affected the Brazilian's mentality, though Madrid executives suspect additional factors may be behind his declining performances and intend to seek clarification from Vinicius.

Mbappé has received greater patience this summer, considering he was absent for most of the Club World Cup due to illness that may have continued to affect his showing against PSG, though Alonso was disappointed by his insufficient defensive contribution in the semifinal match.
Frustrated by recurring problems, Madrid leadership has placed their trust in Alonso to resolve the squad's difficulties and will fully back his methods as the new coach prepares for conversations with Mbappé, Vinicius and other players requiring attention.
Former Madrid player Gareth Bale recently expressed confidence in Alonso's ability to unite Mbappé and Vinicius in effective collaboration.
"I believe Xabi commands the players' respect and they will perform for him," Bale shared with ESPN. "Therefore I anticipate significant improvements and expect them to execute his tactical vision, and if they refuse, I don't believe Xabi would hesitate to bench anyone."
