Mbappe Fires Back, Calls Out 'Liars' Following Real Madrid's Thrilling Clasico Victory

A confident Kylian Mbappé declared that Real Madrid possess the talent to go all the way and claim La Liga glory after netting a brace in his side's stunning victory over Barcelona on Sunday.

The forward notched his 99th and 100th goals for Madrid in the Clásico, as Los Blancos triumphed 2–1 at Camp Nou, halting Barcelona's winning streak and narrowing the gap at the summit to just three points.

Ahead of the fixture, many had questioned whether this Madrid squad could match Barça, who had opened the 2026–27 campaign with a record-equaling nine consecutive league wins.

Nevertheless, José Mourinho's men delivered a composed display against their fiercest rivals, with Mbappé's brace sealing a well-earned against-the-odds triumph.

Only 'Liars' Question Madrid's Quality

Kylian Mbappé and Real Madrid celebrate.

Speaking to Real Madrid TV post-match, Mbappé urged his teammates to harness their collective spirit for the remainder of the season, while appearing to take aim at those who have doubted the club.

"If we want to achieve things this year, we have to do it as a group, as a team, because the quality is right here," he said. "When you look at the players we have, anyone who says there's no quality is simply lying, but we have to do everything together as a team and as a group, because that's how we're going to accomplish what we want to accomplish."

Mbappé, who heads to London for Monday evening's Ballon d'Or ceremony, was the standout performer in Barcelona with his decisive goals. Yet the Frenchman was eager to credit the collective effort that carried Madrid to victory.

"The truth is that the real protagonist of today's match is the team," he said.

"We had tough moments in the game, moments where we were in control, and ultimately, winning while staying in the title race is hugely important for us, but we must keep pushing. We know it's a big game, but it's worth three points like any other, and we need to collect a lot more points to win the league."

He added: "[The win] means nothing on its own — it's Real Madrid, we have to keep going because five straight wins means nothing to us, we want to win every single game. This victory at Camp Nou sends a strong message, but we can't think the season is done. Next week in Santander, we need to bring the exact same intensity."

Sunday night stood out as one of Mbappé's finest performances in a Real Madrid shirt, as he fired his side to a crucial win with the entire world watching.

Mbappé's brace brings his tally to exactly 100 Madrid goals in just 116 appearances. Only Cristiano Ronaldo reached that century milestone in fewer games for the club since 2000.

The Frenchman also extended his personal record against Barcelona to 14 goals in just 11 outings — including his time at Paris Saint-Germain. Among all his opponents, only Montpellier have conceded more goals to him (15 in 15).

Notably, 11 of Mbappé's goals against Barça have been scored away from home.

Looking at his Clásico record specifically, since his arrival in 2024, no player on either side has scored more goals than Mbappé. His eight strikes represent 58% of all Madrid goals in the fixture during that span.
