Messi and Beckham Unite to Honor 'Incredible' Jordi Alba in Heartfelt Tribute

Jordi Alba delivered a masterclass performance on an evening dedicated to celebrating his illustrious career as he nears the conclusion of his professional football journey.

Following his surprising retirement announcement earlier in the week, Alba contributed both a goal and an assist while combining brilliantly with Lionel Messi twice as Miami demolished Atlanta United 4–0 in their season finale at home for the 2025 MLS regular campaign.

Though he had extended his contract until 2027 just this past May, Alba experienced a shift in perspective and will retire alongside his long-standing FC Barcelona, Inter Miami and Spain colleague Sergio Busquets when the MLS Cup Playoffs conclude.

After Saturday's triumph, Inter Miami co-owner Jorge Mas honored Alba with a commemorative framed jersey during an emotional farewell ceremony that included video messages from numerous former teammates across his global career.

"It's been an incredible privilege to see you represent our pink colors in Miami," expressed Miami co-owner David Beckham. "Your contributions to our club and city will remain truly special. Your career has been absolutely remarkable."

Former Barcelona and Spain colleague Andrés Iniesta also offered his respects, stating: "Massive congratulations on a phenomenal career, countless years of dedication and so many memorable achievements."

During his professional journey, Alba has collected 22 major honors at club level, and he hopes to conclude his playing days by capturing an MLS Cup with Miami.

This campaign, the 36-year-old has recorded six goals and 14 assists, concluding his distinguished career as one of football's premier fullbacks with 51 goals and 135 assists across 700 club appearances.

"It's been a privilege to experience all these years together, both during matches and away from football, through celebrations and challenges," expressed Lionel Messi. "Sending you warm regards, until we meet again."

Luis Suárez contributed: "Jordi, my friend, congratulations on your incredible journey, you're establishing an enduring reputation as one of history's finest left-backs."

Miami will wrap up their regular season campaign on Oct. 18 facing Nashville SC, hoping to clinch second position in the Eastern Conference. This achievement would provide them with crucial home-field advantages during their quest for an extended playoff campaign.
