The competition to acquire Man City midfielder Bernardo Silva has gained another contender.

Lionel Messi's Inter Miami have shown interest in the 31-year-old Portuguese midfielder, as reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, adding to a list of potential destinations that features Juventus, Galatasaray and Benfica.

Silva's deal with Man City expires in June, just one month before MLS's summer transfer period begins. He has no intention of extending his current deal and is anticipated to depart the club as a free agent following nine campaigns, according to Matteo Moretto.

The lack of a transfer fee makes Silva particularly attractive; nevertheless, securing the star won't come at a bargain price. Man City currently provides him with an annual base wage of $15.6 million. For comparison, Messi receives a base wage of $12 million as MLS's top earner.

Silva, meanwhile, continues to demonstrate his value at that price point. He's been an influential player for Man City this campaign, contributing one goal and four assists in 25 league appearances, supporting the Citizens' quest for the Premier League crown.

Since arriving at Man City in 2017, Silva has contributed to the club's collection of silverware. He boasts six Premier League championships, two FA Cups and the 2023 Champions League triumph among his numerous honors.

The Herons are also seeking another creative midfielder, aiming to reduce their dependence on 39-year-old Lionel Messi, who—despite remaining exceptional—is presumably approaching the conclusion of his career.
