Star defensive midfielder Casemiro is still on course to depart Manchester United when the season concludes, with reports indicating he is seriously weighing a move across the Atlantic to join Lionel Messi's Inter Miami in MLS.
Despite a recent upturn in performances under interim boss Michael Carrick, the 34-year-old remains firm in his decision to leave Old Trafford when his contract expires this summer, ruling out any extension after four years at the club and over 150 appearances.
"Casemiro keeps planning for an exit from Manchester United," insider Fabrizio Romano said on his YouTube channel Friday. "...I am told this is not changing. Casemiro is leaving Manchester United at the end of the season."
Despite the various logistical hurdles his signing could present, Inter Miami remain equally determined in their pursuit to win over the Brazilian international.
"Despite some calls from Saudi Arabia, MLS remains a strong, concrete, real possibility," Romano added. "Casemiro and MLS, also including Inter Miami in the conversation. Inter Miami are working on a deal to sign Casemiro since March. Inter Miami really want to go for Casemiro."
Inter Miami to Capitalize on Casemiro's Resurgence

Fans chanted "one more year" for Casemiro after he broke the deadlock in Monday's 2–1 victory over Brentford, visibly moving the star to tears on the pitch. Monday's display was merely the latest in an impressive run of form for Casemiro, which will come to a close this summer following his announcement of an impending departure back in January. Club and international teammate Matheus Cunha also echoed the supporters' sentiments on social media after the match.
Casemiro's revival began under manager Ruben Amorim, who was dismissed in January, and has only accelerated under Carrick's guidance since, blending his box-to-box energy and defensive reliability with the freedom Carrick's system provides. His contributions have been crucial to United's push for Champions League qualification, which now appears virtually secured with just four league games remaining.
Casemiro commands the midfield with intensity, and his prowess from set pieces has been unmatched across the Premier League, accounting for eight of his nine goals this season—all coming from headers.
Inter Miami, meanwhile, are currently struggling, showing little of the dominance that saw them lift the 2025 MLS Cup less than six months ago. The Herons have yet to claim a victory at their brand-new home ground in Miami, Nu Stadium, settling for draws against Austin FC, the New York Red Bulls, and the New England Revolution over the past month.
Even Messi appears to be buckling under the pressure of shouldering every creative offensive responsibility for the Herons, as evidenced by the eight-time Ballon d'Or winner's repeated shows of frustration last Saturday against a fairly ordinary Revolution side.
Casemiro, however, could be precisely the catalyst Inter Miami need. If the MLS club are prepared to make significant roster changes, the Brazilian could be lining up alongside Messi in pink as soon as this summer, during the league's secondary transfer window, which opens in mid-July.
