MLS Unveils Stunning 2026 Match Ball While Celebrating Every Iconic Design in League History
Major League Soccer has revealed the official match ball for the 2026 MLS campaign, marking the final season under the current calendar format before the league transitions to match European scheduling starting in 2027.
Created by adidas, the ball showcases a distinctive design incorporating GPS coordinates from all 30 MLS venues, while the wave pattern symbolizes the handles found on the Phillip F. Anschutz Trophy presented to MLS Cup winners. The sublimated graphics feature the MLS emblem along with stars and maple leaves, honoring both the United States and Canada through a patriotic red, white and blue color scheme that pays tribute to the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup.
This 2026 edition represents the 20th MLS match ball created by adidas, which has supplied the league with official balls since 2006. Additionally, the company produces uniforms for all 30 franchises. Before the current adidas partnership, Mitre, Kappa and Puma were previous suppliers of MLS match balls.
Following the introduction of the new ball, Sports Illustrated provides a nostalgic look back at previous MLS match balls throughout history.
