Mohamed Salah Delivers Heartfelt Tribute as Luis Diaz Departs Liverpool in Emotional Send-Off

Mohamed Salah used social media to share a heartfelt farewell message to his former Liverpool colleague Luis Díaz following the player's exit from the club.
Díaz concluded his three-and-a-half-year stint at Anfield this week after securing a transfer to Bayern Munich, with the German giants paying €75 million (£64.8 million; $85.7 million) to outbid Barcelona for his services.
Apart from Virgil van Dijk, no player has shared more playing time with Díaz than Salah, who praised the Colombian star's contribution to the team during his Anfield years.
"Your enthusiasm, determination and commitment on the field have created a lasting impression that will be remembered," he posted on Instagram. "We were genuinely fortunate to have you representing Liverpool, and it has been a privilege to be part of your journey and achievements.
"As a colleague, you exceeded expectations—you were motivational. As a companion, even more remarkable."

"We all witnessed the courage required to persevere during the difficult personal circumstances," Salah added, alluding to the abduction of Díaz's father in late 2023. "What you endured would have defeated many, but you returned stronger and dedicated everything to the team.
"Such determination serves as inspiration for everyone and commands complete admiration. Best wishes for your future endeavors, Lucho.
"Continue making your nation proud."
Liverpool are looking to utilize the money generated from Díaz's transfer to pursue Newcastle United forward Alexander Isak, though an initial offer exceeding £110 million ($145.4 million) was quickly turned down by the Magpies on Friday, leaving uncertainty about a potential second bid.
Díaz briefly played alongside Florian Wirtz at Liverpool after the German midfielder joined from Bayer Leverkusen this summer. Despite sharing only limited training sessions together, they managed to discuss the Colombian's possible switch to Munich.
"I already had knowledge of the German championship and understand the style of play there," Díaz explained to media at his Bayern presentation. "However, I did get the chance to chat with Florian. The competition differs from the Premier League, but it's equally demanding and robust. The football quality is excellent, featuring outstanding clubs, and the venues are consistently packed.
"Florian mentioned that Munich is a wonderful city and that I would thoroughly enjoy living there. He also extended his best wishes to me. I'm extremely thankful for his support."
