Morgan Rogers Is Red Hot: Six Clubs Battling to Land Him Ranked From Least to Most Likely

After two-and-a-half stunning years at Aston Villa, Morgan Rogers could be set for a fresh chapter in his career this summer.

Coming off an outstanding 2025–26 season that delivered 14 goals, 11 assists and Europa League glory, Rogers is gearing up for his first World Cup after securing a place in Thomas Tuchel's England squad. Away from the pitch, however, interest in the dynamic attacking midfielder has reached fever pitch.

The Athletic has reported that virtually every top club in Europe is monitoring the 23-year-old, with a departure looking increasingly probable despite Rogers not pushing for an exit. Should Villa decide to cash in, the asking price has been set at the $134 million (£100 million) benchmark established by Jack Grealish's record move to Manchester City back in 2021.

Here are the most likely destinations for Rogers this summer.

6. Liverpool

Andoni Iraola

Liverpool, like virtually every other major European club, hold Rogers in high regard. Having seen his quality up close during their second-to-last Premier League match of the previous campaign, they are well aware of the extraordinary talent and potential he carries.

Unsurprisingly, Rogers is on Liverpool's radar, and the club are expected to spend significantly this summer under Arne Slot's successor—widely anticipated to be Andoni Iraola. That said, their main focus lies elsewhere.

While Rogers is more than capable of filling in on the left wing—a position Liverpool are looking to strengthen—the club have little need for another attacking midfielder given they already have Florian Wirtz and Dominik Szoboszlai in that area.

The Reds will instead direct their attention toward defensive additions, a new defensive midfielder and more natural wide forward options.

5. Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich players celebrate

Bayern Munich are another club keeping a close eye on Aston Villa's prized midfielder as Vincent Kompany looks to strengthen his attacking options. The chance to join a forward line featuring Harry Kane, Luis Díaz, Michael Olise and Jamal Musiala would be a compelling proposition for any player.

Bayern had shown interest in Anthony Gordon before his move to Barcelona, but have since shifted their attention to PSV Eindhoven's Ismael Saibari as their latest attacking acquisition.

That signing of the Morocco international makes it unlikely they will commit a nine-figure fee to Rogers, who would immediately become the club's most expensive signing ever.

Rogers may also be put off by the prospect of limited playing time given the fierce competition for places in Munich.

4. Chelsea

Xabi Alonso

Chelsea's well-established approach of targeting exciting young talent has brought them to Rogers, who fits the BlueCo mold perfectly with his combination of upside, quality and Premier League pedigree.

The Blues' failure to qualify for last season's Champions League—or any European competition at all—may have dented their attractiveness, but the appointment of Xabi Alonso, one of football's most highly regarded young coaches, could persuade prospective signings to look past a season without European football.

Should Alonso deploy the 3-4-2-1 system that proved so effective at Bayer Leverkusen, a spot alongside Cole Palmer—a close friend of Rogers from their shared time in Manchester City's academy—would open up naturally in the attacking midfield zone.

The prospect of moving to London to play for a youthful Chelsea side under an exciting new manager could prove very appealing to Rogers.

3. Manchester United

Matheus Cunha, Casemiro

Manchester United hold a distinct edge in any potential pursuit of Rogers, given that Michael Carrick served as his mentor during their time together at Middlesbrough. Rogers featured 33 times under the man now charged with restoring former glories at Old Trafford.

United's return to the Champions League is a positive factor in attracting top talent this summer, and the iconic red shirt continues to carry considerable appeal. The Red Devils will need to strengthen their squad considerably to compete at the highest level next season.

While central midfield remains the primary area of need, United's shortage of left-sided wide options is also a concern. Currently, Matheus Cunha and Patrick Dorgu are the only available choices in that area.

Rogers's versatility to operate wide and ease the creative load on Bruno Fernandes makes him an attractive target, though United may find it difficult to finance such a costly deal alongside other necessary signings.

2. Manchester City

Antoine Semenyo, Bernardo Silva

A return to Manchester City remains a genuine option. Rogers spent a number of years in their academy without ever breaking into the senior side, and a homecoming would see him join a remarkable collection of attackers at the Etihad Stadium.

Pep Guardiola's exit does introduce a degree of uncertainty. Enzo Maresca appears set to take over, though replicating the extraordinary success of the Guardiola era under the former Chelsea manager is far from guaranteed.

There is also a question over whether City truly need Rogers. They already possess Rayan Cherki and Phil Foden in the No. 10 position, with Jérémy Doku and Omar Marmoush providing options on the left flank.

Nevertheless, City have been consistently linked with Rogers over the past twelve months and will be keen to back Maresca strongly in the transfer market. Signing the Villa star would undoubtedly send a powerful message.

1. Arsenal

Arsenal

Arsenal recorded the highest net spend of any Premier League club last summer, yet their hugely successful and profitable campaign—which delivered a Premier League title and a run to the Champions League final—could provide the financial flexibility to invest heavily once more.

Mikel Arteta is intent on building a lasting dynasty at the Emirates Stadium, and bringing in Rogers would inject fresh dynamism into a forward line that currently lacks the marquee quality seen at Europe's other elite clubs.

Arsenal must play with greater attacking intent next season, and Rogers would certainly facilitate that evolution—capable of challenging Eberechi Eze and Martin Ødegaard for the No. 10 role while offering an immediate upgrade on Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard on the left flank.

Reinvigorating the attack should be Arsenal's top priority, with Rogers representing the ideal addition as they look to establish dominance in England and across Europe in the seasons ahead.
