Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk has officially moved to Tottenham Hotspur on a season-long loan for 2026–27, aiming to revive his stalled career.
The pacey wide man hasn't played a competitive game since November 2024, having spent nearly two years on the sidelines while serving a doping suspension following a positive test for a prohibited substance. The ban was lifted earlier this summer, and Mudryk was swiftly reintegrated into Chelsea's squad, attracting attention from several interested clubs.
Tottenham were keen to bolster their left-wing options to challenge Mathys Tel, despite having recently splashed out on former Manchester City attackers Sávio and Omar Marmoush. Spurs' attempts to sign Cody Gakpo and Iliman Ndiaye both fell through, leading them to turn to Mudryk as a deadline-day loan solution.
Roberto De Zerbi previously coached Mudryk during the 2021–22 campaign in a short spell at Shakhtar Donetsk, and the Italian manager once proclaimed that the Ukrainian had the potential to claim the Ballon d'Or.
"Having worked with Misha earlier in his career, I know exactly what he can bring to our team," De Zerbi said following the loan announcement. "He has the quality to change a game with his speed and ability in one-vs-one situations, and is an exciting, attacking talent."
After nearly two years out of action, the 25-year-old will head to north London hoping to earn regular playing time that would have been hard to come by at Chelsea, as he seeks to rebuild his career.

Mudryk's loan agreement with Spurs is said to include an optional purchase clause valued at approximately $101.3 million (£75 million). Should he impress during his loan stint and Tottenham opt to make the deal permanent, Chelsea would still turn a profit on their original $75 million outlay when they swooped to hijack his proposed move to Arsenal.
There was considerable fanfare when Mudryk arrived at Chelsea in 2023, heralded as one of the flagship signings of the early BlueCo era. He showed flashes of his raw talent but struggled to find consistency, and his development was cut short by the doping ban. A return of 10 goals and 11 assists across 73 appearances for the Blues underlines his underwhelming time at Stamford Bridge.
Nevertheless, Mudryk still has five years remaining on his Chelsea contract, and the club's decision to stand by him throughout his enforced absence suggests they haven't written off their investment just yet.
Even if Mudryk never pulls on a Chelsea shirt in a competitive fixture again, the club will be hoping his time at Spurs proves to be a resounding success. A strong campaign would significantly boost his market value, potentially tempting Tottenham into triggering the purchase option, or opening the door for Chelsea to field other bids as they look to maintain their reputation as the Premier League's most astute sellers.
