Nashville SC's Dream Bobblehead Night Sparks MLS Cup Championship Buzz
It was Sam Surridge bobblehead night and it couldn't have gone any better for the Nashville SC striker.
Coming off their advancement past Lionel Messi's Inter Miami in the Concacaf Champions Cup, Nashville delivered a dominant performance against Orlando City with a commanding 5–0 victory to reach four wins and one draw in their opening five MLS matches.
Cristian Espinoza, acquired as a free agent after the San Jose Earthquakes allegedly "overlooked" his contract option, netted one of the season's finest goals, while Surridge completed a hat-trick to reach an MLS Golden Boot-leading seven goals across four appearances.
Not a shabby way to celebrate an evening where your bobblehead gets distributed.
"It's incredible for everyone to attend and clearly support the bobblehead and support the squad and myself," Surridge laughed when addressing media following the contest. "So yeah, it's a memorable evening ... I just desire more nights like this."

Soaring in MLS and now advancing to the Champions Cup quarterfinals, the Coyotes have emerged as MLS Cup and Champions Cup contenders unlike ever before.
Already, they've demonstrated superiority over Miami, and while LAFC have yet to allow a goal in five Western Conference matches, no squad in MLS has matched the momentum Nashville SC is creating. In Concacaf, they'll also feel confident facing Liga MX powerhouse Club América.
Attacking Like Few Others

Nashville has experienced periods among MLS's elite previously, but this occasion feels distinct.
Hany Mukhtar claimed MLS MVP in 2022 and has, arguably, been the league's top performer outside of Messi over the past five years. Surridge has proven the ideal forward as well. Yet Espinoza's arrival— remarkably, as a free acquisition—has been revolutionary.

"We're pushing each other to maintain a strong mentality, to possess a winning attitude, and I believe Hany Mukhtar spearheaded that in terms of his energy and the motivation and expectations he brings to the team. I thought we drew from his energy," manager B.J Callaghan stated Saturday.
"When we create these opportunities, we must convert them, and by scoring early, it allows us to dictate the match."
Callaghan, too, has rapidly established himself among MLS's top tier, now in his second complete season on the Tennessee sideline, after guiding the club to the state's first professional sports title in the 2025 U.S. Open Cup.
After directing the U.S. men's national team to the 2023 Concacaf Nations League championship, he has brought those solid processes and tactical vision to Nashville, establishing one of the league's premier projects.
Surridge's Golden Boot Hunt

With teammates creating more opportunities than ever, Surridge stands as an early contender for the 2026 Golden Boot, particularly given Messi's difficulties and transition away from playing striker with Inter Miami.
"I simply wanted to build upon last season's performance," the English forward explained, having netted 24 goals to place second behind Messi in last season's Golden Boot competition.
"I haven't altered anything I do away from the field. I've continued working diligently, and hopefully that reflects on the pitch. I think as a squad there's a shift in mentality. We certainly had an excellent mindset last year, but we want to possess an improved approach this season."
The possibilities are endless now for Surridge, his attacking colleagues and Nashville, and with current progress, MLS and Concacaf success should be attainable.
