Newcastle Captain Delivers Crushing Blow: "Go Again" After Losing Star Striker Alexander Isak
Bruno Guimarães has acknowledged that Newcastle United must avoid losing additional top-tier talent following Alexander Isak's successful push for a move to Liverpool.
The Magpies were hesitant to part ways with Isak but ultimately had to accept the situation when the forward publicly expressed his intention to depart and remained largely separated from the team throughout most of the preseason. When the sale became inevitable, it at least commanded a British record fee of £125 million ($169.5 million).
"There's the financial fair play regulations and I'm uncertain whether this impacts matters or not—I'm not privy to the behind-the-scenes circumstances to understand what was happening. Football is a business," the Newcastle captain commented when addressing media representatives this week.
"As players, we don't wish to see our top performers leave if we want to achieve success. We need to strengthen our roster, and I believe we accomplished this effectively during the summer—we're eager to move forward again."

Isak guided Newcastle to Carabao Cup final triumph against Liverpool last season, securing the club's first domestic silverware since 1955 in the process. However, the chance to join the current Premier League title holders, despite Newcastle's ability to provide Champions League competition, proved too attractive for the determined Sweden striker to turn down.
Newcastle, who experienced Premier League relegation within the past decade, have shown remarkable improvement since their Saudi-backed acquisition was finalized in late 2021. The 2022–23 campaign brought Champions League qualification for the first time in twenty years and the club maintained their position again this season, though competing with teams like Liverpool, Manchester City and Arsenal for the Premier League crown represents another massive leap to attempt.
"I'm determined to claim victories," Bruno continued.
"I've never wavered in my commitment and I remain focused on creating history at this institution. We've participated in the Champions League twice over the past three seasons, which is remarkable for us. We must maintain this momentum. There's significant work ahead for us and I want to contribute to this squad."
