Newcastle Strikes Gold: £55 Million Deadline Day Bombshell as Alexander Isak Transfer Reaches Final Stage

Newcastle United's planning for Alexander Isak's historic transfer to Liverpool is nearly finalized, with sources indicating that a deal has been struck to acquire Yoane Wissa from Brentford.

The Tyneside club has reluctantly consented to Isak's sale for a British record fee of £125 million ($168.7 million), though they have consistently maintained they would only approve his transfer after securing two forwards this summer—with Callum Wilson's free transfer exit leaving only Isak and 22-year-old William Osula as senior attacking options for Eddie Howe's team.

Newcastle missed out on Benjamin Šeško to Manchester United but ultimately secured Nick Woltemade as their marquee signing, bringing in the German international for £69.3 million, though the strategy always involved adding a second striker with Wissa being the top target throughout the summer.

Multiple offers for Wissa were turned down, leading to public frustration from the Brentford striker, but The Athletic has now reported that both clubs have reached an agreement.

Newcastle will reportedly pay £55 million for Wissa, structuring the payment across two installments, while also providing Brentford with a 25% sell-on percentage.

The pending arrival of Wissa, who netted 19 Premier League goals in the previous campaign, will provide Newcastle with the attacking depth required to complete Isak's move to Liverpool.

Newcastle initiated their chase for Wissa back in July, when their initial £25 million offer was declined. The club subsequently increased their bid to £35 million, including an additional £5 million in complex performance-related clauses, but Brentford maintained their stance for a higher valuation.

Wissa grew frustrated with Brentford's unwillingness to approve a transfer at what he considered a reasonable fee, but the Bees' persistence in maximizing the 28-year-old's value has ultimately paid off.
