Janni Thomsen, Denmark
The straightforward wide defender has endured a challenging introduction to life with Utah Royals. Sitting at the bottom of the NWSL table at mid-season, Thomsen has appeared in every match this campaign as the Royals have allowed 29 goals in 13 games since her arrival. At just 25, she's closing in on 50 caps for Denmark and will look to rejuvenate her year with international duty.
Washington Spirit
Sofia Cantore, Italy
Among the most thrilling new acquisitions of the summer transfer period, Washington Spirit invested a seven-figure sum to bring Sofia Cantore's abilities from Italian club Juventus in June.
