Oliver Glasner Breaks Silence on Crystal Palace Stay Amid Manchester United Transfer Speculation
Oliver Glasner has announced his intention to depart Crystal Palace upon the expiration of his current deal this summer, making him available as a free agent when Manchester United begins their search for a new permanent manager.
The Red Devils have appointed Michael Carrick to guide this struggling giant through the challenging final months of the campaign. While the former midfielder doesn't hold an "interim" title, his appointment runs only until June.
Following that period, the management team led by football director Jason Wilcox will begin the process of selecting a new permanent manager. Glasner was quickly identified as the "primary candidate" for this role immediately after Ruben Amorim's turbulent departure, and the Austrian coach has now verified that he will be available when the current season concludes.
Glasner disclosed that he reached this decision during discussions with Palace chairman Steve Parish three months prior.

"The decision was made several months back. I met with Steve [Parish] during October's international break," he informed reporters on Friday. "We had an extensive discussion, and I informed him that I wouldn't be extending my contract.
"We mutually agreed it was wise to maintain confidentiality at that time. It's remarkable that we managed to keep this private for three months. I informed the squad today because I believe transparency is now crucial.
"Our fixture list was extremely demanding, which is why we chose not to discuss it publicly. Both Steve and I prioritize Crystal Palace's best interests."

Glasner emphasized that his choice wasn't influenced by any transfer considerations. The former Eintracht Frankfurt manager has witnessed key players like Michael Olise and Eberechi Eze depart, with club captain Marc Guéhi expected to leave this month.
Rather, he is simply seeking to expand his professional experience.
"I explained to Steve that I'm pursuing a fresh opportunity," Glasner revealed. "I made this clear in October, and it has nothing to do with transfer activity. I dislike when inaccurate information is published or stated, and it was difficult for me to remain silent. We maintain an excellent working relationship, and we consistently discuss what serves Crystal Palace's best interests."
Glasner deflected inquiries about the available Man Utd role following Amorim's exit and maintained his complete focus on Palace. "I haven't had discussions with any other organization, I assured the players of this and promised them today that I will deliver my absolute best to achieve the finest season in Crystal Palace's history," he stated.
"We currently sit four points ahead of our position at this time last season and we will work tirelessly to deliver another trophy to Selhurst Park."
