10. Bay FC (Previous: 13)

This is a youthful squad that remains difficult to pin down. Italian striker Cristiana Girelli brings valuable experience to the group and acts as a focal point, giving others the freedom to shine—most notably Alex Pfeiffer. The 18-year-old attacking midfielder has been dazzling to open 2026 and found the net once again with her signature cut-inside finish.

9. Denver Summit (Previous: 12)

The spotlight will shine on Denver Summit for shattering the attendance record for a professional women's league in the U.S., with an incredible 63,004 supporters turning out for their home opener at Mile High Stadium. Beyond the fanfare, the Summit are quietly building into a formidable force in the NWSL. The question is whether they can keep climbing the standings.

8. Seattle Reign (Previous: 11)

With Lumen Field serving as a venue for the 2026 men's World Cup, the Seattle Reign have temporarily relocated to Spokane for several fixtures. The transition has been seamless, with the Reign collecting maximum points from both matches at their temporary home. Their defensive solidity continues to be the foundation for grinding out results, and wins are all that matter.

7. Houston Dash (Previous: 8)

The Houston Dash could consider themselves unfortunate to leave Los Angeles empty-handed. They dominated large portions of the match against Angel City, but after taking a 1–0 lead into the break, they switched off at the start of the second half and found themselves trailing 2–1 by the 49th minute. There's plenty to admire about this developing Dash side, particularly their pressing intensity and movement off the ball.

A total team effort from Houston 👏

6. NJ/NY Gotham FC (Previous: 3)

It's another sluggish start to the campaign for Gotham, managing just one win and one goal across their first four matches (1-1-2). On the bright side, they've been relatively solid at the back. The 2–0 home defeat to Denver accounts for the only two goals they've let in all season.

5. Washington Spirit (Previous: 4)

Some underlying statistics should offer Washington Spirit supporters reassurance that their side is doing certain things well, despite remaining winless through four matches (0-1-3). The Spirit rank second in the NWSL for expected goals (xG) at 6.9 and also sit second for possession (59.1%). However, their control and chance creation still lack fluidity. This remains a fragmented group still finding its rhythm.

4. Orlando Pride (Previous: 5)

Babra Banda was kept off the scoresheet for the first time this season during Orlando Pride's goalless draw with Gotham on Sunday. Nevertheless, this team is taking shape impressively. Orlando appears well-organized defensively and boasts a world-class finisher in Banda. Their main concerns remain squad depth and creativity when things go off-plan.

3. Portland Thorns (Previous: 1)

Sophia Wilson earned her first start and delivered her strongest showing since returning from maternity leave in last weekend's 2–0 victory over the Current. The USWNT forward looks close to her peak form, which should worry the rest of the league—especially with Portland also boasting Reilyn Turner and Pietra Tordin in attack. The Thorns have now posted back-to-back clean sheet wins at home to kick off 2026.

2. San Diego Wave (Previous: 6)

San Diego Wave claimed three victories in the span of seven days, and following their midweek triumph over the Thorns, it's hard to argue against a higher ranking. Jonas Eidevall's side boasts an excellent blend of experience and youth. The 34-year-old midfield orchestrator Kenza Dali looks right at home alongside rookie Lia Godfrey, who has now netted three times this season.

1. Angel City FC (Previous: 2)

The last unbeaten side in the league claims the top position in the power rankings. Angel City are just the eighth club in NWSL history to begin a season with a flawless 3-0-0 record. Five of the seven previous teams to achieve this went on to lift the NWSL Shield, with only one—the 2019 Utah Royals—failing to reach the playoffs.

Los Angeles faced their stiffest challenge of the season against Houston, yet responded with remarkable character and a dominant second-half display. Sveindís Jónsdóttir produced an early frontrunner for goal of the season with a breathtaking equalizer.
