Pedri Unleashes Brutal Assessment of Barcelona's "Horrifying" Display Following Crushing Defeat

Pedri was direct in his assessment of Barcelona's performance following their crushing 4-1 defeat to Sevilla in what could be considered the most disappointing display under Hansi Flick's management.

Sevilla dominated on Sunday evening, securing their first La Liga victory over Barcelona in ten years. While Matías Almeyda and his squad deserve significant praise, Hansi Flick's team delivered a shockingly subpar performance at the Estadio Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán. This result represented back-to-back defeats for Barcelona for the first time this year and stands as Flick's most substantial loss since taking charge in Spain.

The loss caused Barcelona to fall behind Real Madrid in the league table as they head into the October international window. After the final whistle, Pedri offered an unflinchingly honest evaluation of Barcelona's showing.

"I believe the team was dreadful during the opening 45 minutes," Pedri confessed. "We haven't delivered such a poor performance in any match like we did today. We must be critical of ourselves and focus on moving forward.

"Upon our return [from the international break] we need to consider what we can do to prevent this from recurring."

When questioned about what contributed to the failure against Sevilla, Pedri provided a frank evaluation.

"Multiple factors. In possession we couldn't find ways around their aggressive pressing, we showed insufficient energy in our defensive work. We need to analyze all our mistakes. It's evident that the coach [Hansi Flick] and the team will focus on improvements during the break," Pedri explained.

Barcelona enters the October international period hoping to welcome back injured players. Raphinha and Fermín López are anticipated to return afterward while supporters wait for news regarding Lamine Yamal.
