PFA Awards Shock Wrexham Fans as Historic League One Heroes Get Zero Recognition

No Wrexham players received recognition in the League One Team of the Year at the 2025 Professional Footballers' Association (PFA) Awards.
The Welsh club achieved a remarkable feat last season by claiming second place in League One, earning automatic promotion to the Championship for the first time in over four decades. This marked Wrexham's third straight promotion, establishing Wales' oldest football club as the first team to accomplish three consecutive promotions across England's top five tiers.
However, Phil Parkinson's squad was ignored by their peers during the PFA Awards voting process. Despite their remarkable accomplishment, no member of Wrexham's 2024–25 campaign was selected for the League One Team of the Year.
Birmingham City players dominated the selection instead. Seven Blues representatives received recognition after leading their team to the League One championship with a commanding 19-point margin:
The final four positions were awarded to Lloyd Jones from Charlton Athletic, Richard Kone of Wycombe Wanderers, Kwame Poku from Peterborough United, and Charlie Kelman of Leyton Orient.

Wrexham, however, failed to secure any representation in the League One Team of the Year. The Red Dragons accumulated 92 points during the campaign and lost only eight games across 46 fixtures.
Although the team's offensive output was inconsistent at times, their defensive unit performed admirably. Parkinson's backline allowed just 34 league goals throughout 2024–25, merely three more than Birmingham City's division-best tally of 31.
The Red Dragons will likely focus on more pressing matters than this PFA Awards oversight. The Welsh side has dropped both opening fixtures in England's second division.
Wrexham will concentrate on securing their first Championship point this Saturday. The team is scheduled to face Sheffield Wednesday at the STōK Cae Ras.
