Phil Parkinson remains unsatisfied with his current squad and is pushing for additional signings this summer, though he declined to address speculation connecting Wrexham to a club-record bid for Viking FK defender Henrik Falchener.
Wrexham have been on the hunt for a new center back throughout the summer and have shown interest in the 23-year-old, who featured for Norway at the 2026 World Cup. Reports suggest the Red Dragons have already had two bids for Falchener turned down and are weighing up a third approach that could shatter their transfer record.
The most recent offer was said to be worth a potential $10.92 million, eclipsing the $10.8 million paid for goalkeeper Anthony Patterson from Sunderland earlier in the week.
Wrexham kick off the new Championship campaign with an away trip to Welsh rivals Cardiff City on Monday. In the build-up to the fixture, Parkinson was quizzed on the latest transfer gossip.
"We get linked with so many players, and I'd never want to comment on specific individuals," Parkinson said. "There have been moments this summer—and it's completely normal—where we've made an inquiry about a player, sometimes on loan, and suddenly we've supposedly bid $9.5 million for them!
"There are plenty of players we're rumored to be chasing. If we get close to completing a deal, or we actually sign someone, then everyone will find out immediately."
Parkinson Wants More Signings Before Deadline Day
Wrexham have brought in three new players this summer, with Patterson joining following the arrivals of Crystal Palace defender Danny Imray and Preston North End midfielder Ben Whiteman.
The club has also seen a number of departures, with Lewis Brunt and Ryan Hardie both heading to Bolton Wanderers this week, while several other players—including club icon Paul Mullin—have been let go.
Parkinson anticipates further activity in the closing weeks of the summer transfer window and acknowledges the squad is not yet at the level he requires if Wrexham are to improve on last season's seventh-place finish.

"The squad is solid," the Wrexham manager said. "We need Sheafy [Ben Sheaf] and [Josh] Windass back fit, which has been a source of frustration for both of them during preseason. But Sheafy has returned to training this week, which is a real positive. He looked sharp today.
"We're still not where we want to be with the squad. We're not there yet, and the division is going to be as competitive as ever. We need to make sure the squad is equipped to handle the demands of a Championship season.
"We've got some major decisions ahead of us, as always. Hopefully, by the time the transfer window closes, we'll have the squad where we want it—both in terms of numbers and in terms of depth and quality. We're working incredibly hard to make that happen."
