Premier League Club Shows Strong Interest in Harvey Elliott as Deal Looks Increasingly Likely

Liverpool may have the chance to secure a substantial financial gain from versatile playmaker Harvey Elliott, as Premier League rivals West Ham United are reportedly "confident" about completing a transfer.

Elliott enjoyed favor under previous Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp, featuring in 53 matches throughout the 2023–24 season. However, his involvement decreased to merely 28 appearances last term following Arne Slot's appointment as the German's replacement—with only three starting positions in Premier League and Champions League fixtures.

West Ham, seeking fresh attacking options after Mohammed Kudus's high-profile move to Tottenham Hotspur, are said by the Daily Mail to have their sights set on the Liverpool midfielder. The Hammers remain hopeful about their prospects, though no official bid has been submitted.

Liverpool have placed a £40 million ($53.8 million) valuation on Elliott, provided a buy-back provision is incorporated into any agreement. For a permanent departure without buy-back terms, they are demanding £50 million ($67.3 million). When the Reds acquired the then 16-year-old Elliott from Fulham in 2019, the investment was merely £1.2m ($1.6 million).

Elliott has two years remaining on his current contract, making this the ideal moment for a sale—should he remain until next summer without agreeing fresh terms, Liverpool would lose leverage to command a premium price.

In total, Elliott, who is still just 22 years old, has appeared 147 times for Liverpool since establishing himself as a first-team player three years ago. His breakthrough campaign occurred during a loan spell at Blackburn Rovers in the Championship during 2020–21, where he made 41 league outings and netted seven goals.

Elliott was recently included in England's successful Under-21 European Championship squad, where the young lions defended their 2023 crown. Elliott participated in both tournaments, being one of only two players to feature in each competition. He has yet to earn a senior England cap.
