Premier League Club Strikes Deal to Sign USMNT Star Tim Weah from Juventus

Reports suggest that Nottingham Forest and Juventus have come to terms regarding the transfers of Tim Weah and Samuel Mbangula.

Following their impressive seventh-place finish in the Premier League and securing qualification for next season's Conference League, Nottingham Forest are seeking to strengthen their offensive capabilities during the summer transfer window. According to ESPN, the English side is on the verge of completing a deal valued at approximately €22 million (£18.8 million, $25.6 million) for both Weah and Mbangula.

However, the transfers remain stalled due to outstanding personal terms negotiations, as neither player has yet reached agreement on wages and contract duration with Nottingham Forest.

These discussions are taking place while Juventus participates in the FIFA Club World Cup. The Turin-based club has already secured their place in the knockout rounds and aims to make a significant impact in the competition following their fourth-place finish in the 2024-25 Serie A campaign.

Weah, who opted out of the 2025 Gold Cup to remain with the Bianconeri, played a role in Juventus' commanding 5-0 win against Al Ain. Meanwhile, Mbangula, who earned his promotion to the senior squad only this past season, has not yet featured during the team's summer tour in the United States.

For Weah, this potential move could represent a crucial opportunity for renewal. In contrast to his USMNT colleague Weston McKennie, the 25-year-old has struggled to establish himself at Juventus following his 2023 arrival. His record shows merely seven goals and six assists across 78 matches.

Joining Nottingham Forest would provide the winger with an opportunity to enhance his skills in the world's most demanding league before the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The United States national team requires Weah to perform at his peak next summer, and securing a regular position in England's top division would be an ideal way to demonstrate his worth to manager Mauricio Pochettino.

Nuno Espírito Santo, who recently signed his own three-year contract extension, would appreciate these attacking additions. Nottingham Forest managed only 58 league goals during the previous campaign, representing the lowest tally among teams that finished in the Premier League's upper half. ESPN indicates that the club is also pursuing a striker during this transfer period.

Currently, acquiring Weah and the 21-year-old Mbangula would mark Nottingham Forest's inaugural player acquisitions of the summer. Weah's arrival would also make him the third American to represent the club within the past two seasons, joining Gio Reyna and Matt Turner.
