Premier League Giants Set Sights on Real Madrid's Rising Star in January Raid

Brighton & Hove Albion are reportedly among several Premier League teams showing interest in securing Real Madrid prospect Gonzalo García through a January loan arrangement.

The 21-year-old forward unexpectedly gained recognition during the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup following his promotion to the first team by manager Xabi Alonso, with the player justifying his coach's confidence in Kylian Mbappé's absence by claiming the tournament's leading scorer award.

García netted four goals to secure his position in Madrid's senior squad, though limited opportunities this campaign have restricted his playing time. Eight of his nine total appearances have been as a substitute, while he has remained unused on the bench seven times.

Consequently, reports suggest the forward could be loaned out during the January window to aid his progression—although he remains satisfied with life in the Spanish capital.

Reports from the Daily Mail indicate Brighton are among the clubs considering García for a winter loan should Madrid approve a temporary departure for their academy product. Championship promotion contenders Leeds United and Sunderland may also pursue the player, having previously expressed interest during the summer window.

García, who extended his deal with Los Blancos in August, previously attracted attention from Aston Villa in the recent transfer period, with the Mail noting that "several English clubs" are monitoring his situation closely.

Madrid's decision regarding García's potential January departure will likely depend on the availability of Mbappé, Rodrygo and Brahim Díaz through injury concerns.

Meanwhile, another promising Madrid attacker appears set for a winter exit, as Endrick looks certain to leave the Santiago Bernabéu temporarily. The Brazilian youngster, who has featured just once this season due to fitness problems and poor form, is reportedly close to completing a loan switch to Lyon.
