Premier League Rival Delivers Bold Formation Blueprint to Manchester United's Ruben Amorim

Premier League Rival Delivers Bold Formation Blueprint to Manchester United's Ruben Amorim

Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner has expressed support for Manchester United's Ruben Amorim to persist with his criticized 3-4-3 formation, sharing insights from his own achievements using the tactical approach.

Despite Amorim facing renewed scrutiny following a 1-0 loss to Everton that marked his 22nd defeat in 55 matches as manager, Glasner has received widespread praise after implementing a similar 3-4-3 system that helped Palace secure the FA Cup and Community Shield while establishing themselves as a formidable Premier League side.

With Glasner's Palace positioned two points above United ahead of Sunday's clash between the clubs, the Austrian manager was keen to emphasize the benefits of a formation that has drawn considerable criticism throughout Amorim's tenure in England.

"It's quite amusing discussing the 3-4-3 formation, and I believe United possess the highest expected goals in the Premier League for scoring," Glasner remarked.

"Their squad has transformed, particularly in the attacking third. They required more goals and invested £200 million ($264.5 million) on three forward players. Additionally, they now have players capable of playing with great intensity like [Bryan] Mbeumo.

"From my perspective, it's remarkable to witness. We analyzed their previous performance compared to their current state. I believe their work ethic is significantly higher than last season, and they're reaping the benefits."

Glasner added: "We utilize the identical system. So it appears to be an effective attacking formation. As we demonstrate, you can maintain excellent defensive organization with it.

"It's entirely about your execution of the system and your fluidity in attack plus creativity levels. I'm genuinely excited about the match."

Amorim: Palace Executing 3-4-3 Superior to United

Amorim, who has consistently noted that formation criticism tends to fade when United secure victories, candidly admitted that Glasner and Palace are simply executing their approach more effectively than his team this campaign.

"We operate differently," Amorim stated. "The data clearly shows this distinction. It's challenging to explain comprehensively. They represent a different organization and are performing superior to us. It's quite straightforward.

"You wouldn't claim that all 4-3-3 teams operate identically. We play at different moments, defend in different areas, and attack through different methods. They're simply executing better than us.

"I faced [Glasner] at Frankfurt while managing Sporting, so I'm familiar with the players. I draw inspiration from everyone. During two-week international breaks, I study all managers and attempt to gather every bit of inspiration possible.

"With six years as a professional manager, I'm constantly seeking to improve my knowledge."
