Premier League Rival Stuns Man City With Bold Savinho Bid as Transfer Price Tag Emerges

Tottenham Hotspur have made an unexpected inquiry to Manchester City regarding a potential transfer for Brazilian winger Savinho, according to several sources.

The 21-year-old left-footed player has been part of the City Football Group network since his move to Troyes in 2022. Following an outstanding loan period with CFG affiliate Girona during the 2023–24 season, Savinho was brought to the heart of the extensive multi-club structure.

Savinho emerged as one of Manchester City's standout performers during a season marked by significant struggles. No other player in City's roster could equal the winger's eight Premier League assists—with five of those being converted by Erling Haaland, who formed an excellent partnership with Savinho on the field.

That inaugural season was sufficient to persuade Tottenham that Savinho would be a "perfect fit" for new manager Thomas Frank, as initially reported by Fabrizio Romano. Talks between the clubs are believed to be in progress, with The Athletic suggesting that a transfer worth approximately €50 million (£43.3 million, $58.2 million) is being considered.

City are reportedly reluctant to sanction a departure unless the fee exceeds £50 million.

Pep Guardiola has supervised transfer spending exceeding £150 million this summer, acquiring five first-team additions, following the recruitment of six new players in January. This not only limits Savinho's opportunities for playing time but creates an oversized squad that City's manager clearly dislikes.

"Many players need to depart," Guardiola stated frankly earlier this summer. "Additional players, I don't believe so. We require slightly fewer. I dislike having too many players."

Vitor Reis was sent to Girona just six months after his January signing, while Kevin De Bruyne and Kyle Walker were both permitted to depart as they enter the latter stages of their careers.

Savinho typically plays on the right wing where Guardiola can select from Rayan Cherki, Phil Foden and promising talent Oscar Bobb. The left wing position where the Brazilian has also featured is less crowded, particularly with Jack Grealish close to joining Everton on loan, leaving Jérémy Doku as the sole natural choice for that position.
