Premier League Star's Agent Busted in Shocking Gun Threat Scandal
A top-flight English footballer was reportedly menaced with a firearm by a sports representative following a confrontation on a crowded street in north London.
Metropolitan Police responded to the incident on September 6th around 11 p.m., which apparently arose from the footballer's choice to decline the 31-year-old representative's professional services.
The Telegraph indicates that the representative, whose identity remains protected due to legal constraints, has previously worked with internationally-capped players and that the footballer involved is a regular starter in England's top division.
"Police received a call at 23.14hrs on Saturday, 6 September, regarding reports that a man in his twenties had been menaced with a gun on Cockfosters Parade, Barnet," a Metropolitan Police statement verified.
"Officers interviewed the victim and during their investigation it emerged that another man in his twenties had similarly been allegedly extorted and intimidated by the same person. Neither incident resulted in physical harm.
"A 31-year-old individual was detained on Monday, 8 September on charges of firearm possession with criminal intent, extortion and unlicensed driving. He remains on bail pending ongoing investigations."
An insider informed The Sun newspaper: "This was a frightening episode that has created ripples throughout football's commercial sector. The footballer was naturally disturbed—facing gun threats is deeply unsettling.
"He immediately contacted authorities. It was the correct decision for his protection. His teammates and club have provided support, hoping this won't affect his on-field performance. However, serious questions remain about the circumstances, which police are investigating."
