PSG 'Agreement' Opens Door for Man Utd and Chelsea to Swoop for Star Keeper Donnarumma

Paris Saint-Germain are allegedly preparing for a future without their first-choice keeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, offering encouragement to the Italian's many potential suitors.
Donnarumma arrived at PSG as a free agent in 2021 and faces the possibility of departing under similar circumstances. The 26-year-old's deal runs out next summer and negotiations regarding a renewal have proven challenging. Following initial reluctance to address the matter, Donnarumma subsequently stated that his "focus" was on staying in the French capital.
Nevertheless, agreement on fresh terms has yet to materialize. Should Donnarumma fail to sign a new contract, this represents the last transfer window where the European titleholders can secure a transfer fee for their star goalkeeper, creating opportunities for various interested parties.
Chelsea are among the latest clubs reportedly showing interest in the world-class keeper, who is also believed to be on Manchester United's radar. Manchester City have been previously connected with the Italy skipper, though their pursuit of James Trafford would likely eliminate such a possibility.

PSG are anticipated to explore the goalkeeper market themselves. The French powerhouse have reportedly reached personal agreement with Lille's goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier, as reported by Fabrizio Romano. Discussions regarding an appropriate transfer fee—believed to be around €40 million (£34.9 million, $47 million)—continue as PSG "remain unable to reach" an extension agreement with Donnarumma.
While Chelsea's pursuit appears to represent another instance of their aggressive market approach—the Blues have demonstrated their inability to pass up attractive deals when opportunities present themselves—Manchester United would significantly benefit from Donnarumma's addition on the field.
The Red Devils have allegedly been monitoring several goalkeepers this summer as confidence in current number one André Onana continues to diminish. Prospects with greater potential than established credentials, including Royal Antwerp's Senne Lammens, have been evaluated while a loan approach for Aston Villa's Emiliano Martínez was firmly rejected.
At just 26 years old, Donnarumma would provide both excellence and long-term value without demanding an enormous transfer fee given his uncertain contract situation.
