PSG Eye Four Exciting Targets to Fill Kvaratskhelia's Boots After Devastating ACL Blow

Paris Saint-Germain may have claimed victory against Barcelona in their recent Champions League clash, but the win came at a considerable price.

Ousmane Dembélé and Marquinhos each sustained muscle injuries that will keep them sidelined for weeks, but most devastatingly, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia ruptured his ACL at Parc des Princes, almost certainly ending his involvement for the rest of the season.

Having seen Bradley Barcola—whose PSG career was disrupted by Kvaratskhelia's January 2025 arrival—and Ibrahim Mbaye leave for the Premier League over the summer, the French club now have just three senior wingers remaining in their squad. That excludes Dembélé, who has been repurposed as a central striker under Luis Enrique. Désiré Doué leads the group, flanked by summer additions Maghnes Akliouche and Mika Godts.

Yet if PSG are to claim a third consecutive Champions League title and replicate what only Real Madrid have achieved in the post-1992 era, while also securing domestic honors this season, Luis Enrique will need a stand-in for his Georgian talisman—even on a temporary basis.

Here are four players who could step in to replace Kvaratskhelia.

Marcus Rashford

Marcus Rashford

PSG were frequently linked with Marcus Rashford throughout his turbulent spell at Manchester United. Although the Englishman has since been reintegrated following loan stints at Aston Villa and Barcelona, questions remain over his long-term future at Old Trafford, particularly with his contract running until 2028.

As Michael Carrick's team continue to struggle through a poor start to the campaign—during which Rashford has done little to inspire—the possibility of another departure cannot be entirely ruled out.

Barcelona made good use of Rashford on loan last season, with the winger contributing 25 goal involvements across all competitions. He is precisely the type of player who could flourish in a less demanding league like Ligue 1, while his ability to operate across multiple attacking positions—as demonstrated at Barcelona—adds further appeal.

Rashford could serve as a valuable cover option for Doué and Akliouche, who look set to form the primary winger partnership during Kvaratskhelia's extended absence.

Endrick

Endrick

Although Endrick's representatives have played down talk of a Real Madrid departure in the near term, his minimal playing time under José Mourinho hints at a potential loan move in the second half of the season, with several clubs reportedly monitoring his situation.

Endrick spent the first half of the 2025–26 season on loan in France with Lyon, where he delivered a string of impressive performances as both a striker and wide forward. The 21-year-old netted eight goals and registered eight assists across 21 appearances.

With Kylian Mbappé firmly established as untouchable and Carlos Espí making a strong impression from the bench in his debut Bernabéu campaign, a significant upturn in minutes looks unlikely for Endrick, who has featured in just four matches for Madrid this term.

PSG's versatile attacking setup could comfortably accommodate Endrick. Dembélé could be shifted out wide if needed to free up the No. 9 role, while the Brazilian could also operate on the right flank as Doué moves across to the left.

Estêvão

Estêvão

Another Brazilian prodigy finding game time hard to come by at a European heavyweight is Estêvão.

Xabi Alonso's preference for a 3-4-2-1 system since taking charge at Chelsea has limited the 19-year-old's opportunities. Despite being capable of playing as an attacking midfielder or right winger, he has made just seven appearances under his new boss, starting none of Chelsea's Premier League fixtures.

With an established attacking trio of João Pedro, Cole Palmer and Morgan Rogers performing well, and no European competition to encourage squad rotation, Estêvão looks set for a peripheral role throughout Alonso's debut season.

Perhaps PSG could offer him a lifeline.

While Chelsea would be reluctant to sanction a permanent sale of one of football's most exciting young talents, they might consider a loan arrangement in Paris to aid Estêvão's development. Enrique would be an outstanding mentor to sharpen the teenager's game and restore his confidence.

Said El Mala

Said El Mala

Should PSG prefer a more permanent solution without spending extravagantly, they could look to Köln's exciting prospect Said El Mala.

The Champions League holders already invested heavily in young talent last summer by bringing in Akliouche and Godts, but Kvaratskhelia's injury may compel them to return to the market in pursuit of a high-ceiling talent with significant long-term upside.

El Mala certainly ticks those boxes after his breakthrough campaign in the Bundesliga. During the 2025–26 season, the 20-year-old struck 13 times and chipped in with four assists, a remarkable return given his age and limited top-flight experience.

The Germany international, who has recently earned two caps under Jürgen Klopp, is a powerful and dynamic left winger available at a relatively modest price. Brentford had agreed a $56 million deal with Köln before the player chose to reject the transfer—a sum that would barely register for PSG's Qatari backers.

El Mala could represent the ideal blend of immediate impact and lasting value.
