PSG Ready to Cash In on Donnarumma as Replacement Goalkeeper Arrives

Gianluigi Donnarumma appears set to depart Paris Saint-Germain following the club's successful negotiation of a transfer for Lille's goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier to become their primary keeper.
Uncertainty has lingered around Donnarumma's position at PSG throughout the summer months. The shot-stopper, who contributed to the French club's quadruple triumph in the previous campaign, has been unable to secure terms for a contract renewal with PSG.
Disagreements regarding a revised wage package for the Italian national team player led the current French and European title holders to explore the transfer market for an adequate successor to Donnarumma, whose current deal runs until June 2026.
ESPN indicates that Chevalier has signed a five-year agreement with PSG worth €40 million ($47 million). The transfer also features an extra €15 million ($17 million) in performance-related add-ons.
Following Chevalier's imminent arrival in the French capital, PSG "have no intention of retaining" Donnarumma. The club prefers to generate revenue from the 26-year-old rather than risk losing him without compensation next summer.

Donnarumma has attracted interest from Chelsea and Manchester United, with both Premier League clubs seeking improvements in their goalkeeping department. ESPN reports that Inter Milan are also monitoring the Yashin Trophy candidate.
The goalkeeper had previously stated his intention to continue with PSG: "My priority is to stay at PSG. I don't think there will be problems in the negotiations."
However, Donnarumma looks set for a move away just under three months after helping PSG secure their maiden Champions League trophy. The club is anticipated to seek approximately €30 million ($35 million) for the Italian goalkeeper.
Chevalier will face significant expectations to replicate Donnarumma's achievements at France's most prominent club. The 23-year-old featured in 127 matches for Lille, though he has not yet earned a cap for the French national team.
PSG are anticipated to announce the new acquisition shortly following his successful medical examination in Paris.
