PSG Sporting Director Makes Bold 2025 Ballon d'Or Prediction: 'He Clearly Deserves It'

The 2025 Ballon d'Or ceremony is approaching rapidly, with just days remaining before we discover who will claim the title of world's finest footballer.

Paris Saint-Germain's Ousmané Dembélé stands as the frontrunner for the prestigious Ballon d'Or trophy, following his exceptional 2024–25 campaign that saw him guide the Parisians to four significant titles while earning recognition as the top performer in both Ligue 1 and the Champions League.

While other candidates include Barcelona's talented pair Lamine Yamal and Raphinha, PSG's sporting director Luis Campos maintains there should be no debate about the winner.

"Should Ousmané [Dembélé] fail to claim the Ballon d'Or, it would indicate that those casting votes lack the expertise required for such decisions," Campos stated to RMC Sport (via Mundo Deportivo). "The individual who undoubtedly merits the Ballon d'Or is Ousmané Dembélé, without question."

"I'm referring to the previous season, not making predictions about Lamine Yamal's future prospects."

Campos was instrumental in securing Dembélé's transfer from Barcelona to PSG during summer 2023. In his sophomore campaign with the club, the French winger emerged as PSG's cornerstone following Kylian Mbappé's exit.

Operating in a more central position as a false nine within Luis Enrique's dynamic offensive framework, Dembélé reached unprecedented levels. The 28-year-old netted 35 goals and provided 16 assists across 53 matches in 2024–25, spearheading PSG's most successful campaign.

"Ousmané Dembélé earned recognition as the Champions League's finest player and his league's top performer, capturing every available honor. If he bore the name Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo, no debate would exist," Campos concluded.

This Monday, September 22, Campos and football fans worldwide will learn whether Dembélé becomes the sixth French footballer to capture the Ballon d'Or.
