Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly "confident" of securing Maghnes Akliouche before the summer transfer window shuts, even as Monaco continue to reject their improved offers.
Akliouche is among the players Liverpool are said to be eyeing as a potential successor to Mohamed Salah, with the club having made a preliminary approach to Monaco to gauge his availability.
However, PSG are further advanced in their pursuit. Following two unsuccessful bids—the highest reaching $45.5 million (€40 million)—L'Équipe reports that a third proposal worth $57 million (€50 million) has also been rejected. Roughly 90% of that figure was guaranteed, with the remainder consisting of performance-related bonuses.
Monaco appear open to selling Akliouche, a fringe member of France's World Cup squad, but strictly on their own terms. The Ligue 1 side is "determined" to hold firm on their valuation, which remains unspecified in this latest French report, though previous estimates have placed it somewhere between $57–80 million (€50–70 million).
If the true asking price sits at the lower end of that range, PSG may not be too far off—and L'Équipe indicates that talks between the two clubs will "continue"—though Monaco may require a higher guaranteed portion before agreeing to any deal.
Liverpool Running Out of Time to Replace Salah
From Liverpool's standpoint, Akliouche is a different type of player to Salah—more of a creative force than a goalscorer or all-round attacking threat—yet the reported interest still makes logical sense.
Finding a direct replacement for Salah on that flank will prove extremely difficult for the Reds—the closest option identified so far is Bradley Barcola, who predominantly operates on the left and carries a price tag of $193.5 million (€170 million). Akliouche is also noted for his pressing ability off the ball, much like new left winger Víctor Muñoz, which aligns with new head coach Andoni Iraola's tactical approach.
Bringing in a creative player like Akliouche to fill the Salah void could also redirect attention toward the likes of Florian Wirtz, who found it difficult to make an impact after joining Liverpool last summer without the system being tailored to his qualities, and striker Alexander Isak.
However, Liverpool's efforts could prove fruitless, as separate French reports this month suggest Akliouche personally favors a move to PSG over a switch to Merseyside.
Should Akliouche head to the French capital, he would serve as understudy to Désiré Doué on the right wing—a role that would be clearly defined from the outset. Barcola's reported discontent stems from his diminished standing since Khvicha Kvaratskhelia arrived from Napoli 18 months ago, having previously been the undisputed starter on the left.

Liverpool have not appeared to be making an all-out push to land a Salah replacement, with the Akliouche pursuit still in its infancy and Barcola not being a natural fit for the vacant role. Yet the new Premier League campaign is now fewer than four weeks away.
