With May 30 approaching, much of our attention will be focused on the two Champions League finalists: Paris Saint-Germain and Arsenal.
The referee tasked with the biggest night of their career will barely get a second thought. Instead, fans will be eagerly anticipating the clash between a formidable attack and an ironclad defense. It's a timeless matchup that will undoubtedly captivate audiences in the Hungarian capital of Budapest, with everything on the line.
But what about the man in the middle, though?
We could endlessly speculate about what Khvicha Kvaratskhelia might do to Ben White, but, as we witnessed at the London Stadium on Sunday afternoon, the referee and their team could prove equally decisive in determining the outcome of the final as any of the players on the pitch at the Puskás Arena.
Here's a breakdown of the official UEFA has appointed to oversee the 2026 Champions League final — and why he represents a favorable pick for the Gunners.
Daniel Siebert's Refereeing Record

German referee Daniel Siebert was not among the 15 UEFA officials chosen for the upcoming World Cup, yet he has been entrusted with overseeing his first UEFA club competition final.
The 42-year-old Berlin native continues to live in the German capital and has held international referee status since 2015. He was appointed as a DFB referee eight years prior and took charge of his first Bundesliga match at the start of the 2012–13 season.
At the time of writing, Siebert has officiated 600 professional matches, with his services utilized in domestic cup finals in Cyprus and Saudi Arabia. He has accumulated over 200 Bundesliga appearances, along with the 2023 DFB Pokal final between RB Leipzig and Eintracht Frankfurt.
Although he was notably absent from the 2026 World Cup referee list, Siebert was in charge of two matches at the previous tournament in Qatar. He also handled a combined five matches across Euro 2020 and Euro 2024.

Arsenal & PSG's Record With Daniel Siebert

Siebert has taken charge of nine Champions League fixtures this season, and Arsenal may well view the German as something of a lucky charm. The 42-year-old was the referee on duty when the Gunners secured a vital 1–0 away win at Sporting CP in the first leg of their quarterfinal tie.
Siebert also oversaw the second leg of their tense semifinal victory over Atlético Madrid at the Emirates Stadium.
In fact, Arsenal boast a perfect record under Siebert, having won all four matches he has refereed involving the club.
PSG, meanwhile, remain unbeaten in games officiated by Siebert, though they were held to a scoreless draw against Athletic Club during the league phase, meaning their record is not without blemish. Prior to that, the Parisians claimed victories over Girona, Maccabi Haifa, and Club Brugge.
