Rafael Nadal Slams Vinicius Junior's On-Field Behavior in Shocking Critique
Tennis legend and passionate Real Madrid fan Rafael Nadal has called on Vinicius Junior to "recognize the hierarchy" and show respect toward Xabi Alonso during the continuing tension between the Brazilian star and his coach.
Real Madrid's winless run stretched to three matches over the weekend after a surprising 2–2 stalemate with Elche, where Vinicius Jr found himself on the substitutes' bench as Alonso employed an unusual tactical approach that proved unsuccessful.
The winger's exclusion from the starting eleven has only fueled rumors about his future prospects at Madrid, becoming a hot topic across Spain following Vinicius Jr's heated outburst during El Clásico when he was withdrawn early—an episode for which he has since offered both public and private apologies, though without directly addressing Alonso.
French Open champion Nadal, who has claimed the title 14 times, has entered the Vinicius Jr discussion, emphasizing that the attacker must put aside his ego and acknowledge Alonso's authority as Madrid's manager for any resolution to emerge.
"I believe this situation can be settled through conversation, with everyone united," Nadal shared with Movistar+ when asked about the strained dynamic between Vinicius Jr and Madrid. "I feel Vini must recognize the chain of command and show respect for that leadership, as well as the institution, considering what it represents to wear the Real Madrid jersey.
"However, I think he's giving his all, and those behaviors that emerge from him, which are sometimes poorly received, can be addressed through communication and recognition that improvements are possible.
"The primary individual who must desire to pursue that path of growth has to be himself. When I listen to him in interviews, expressing his wish to develop in all areas, I believe he needs to identify strong supporters, and I'm certain that Real Madrid possesses the right personnel, and he will be present to guide him."
Vinicius Jr Confronts Unclear Prospects

The Vinicius Jr controversy has raised questions about his extended stay at the Santiago Bernabéu, driven mainly by his explosive reaction as he departed the field during the Barcelona encounter, shouting: "Always me, I'm departing the squad, it's preferable if I go, I'm leaving."
Although his later apology has been acknowledged and he's appeared four times for Los Blancos afterward, uncertainties persist regarding his position in the Spanish capital.
The 25-year-old has declined to proceed with contract discussions with Madrid while his rapport with Alonso remains troubled. Talks about an extension commenced in January but have since reached an impasse.
Vinicius Jr, whose existing agreement concludes in 2027, has recorded just nine goal contributions across 17 Madrid appearances this campaign—a relatively modest output for a player of his exceptional ability.
