Rasmus Hojlund Eyes Fresh Start as New Exit Door Opens at Manchester United

AC Milan have made contact regarding the potential acquisition of Manchester United striker Rasmus Højlund, according to recent reports.
Højlund has faced challenges during his two-year stint following his £72 million ($96.6 million) transfer to Old Trafford, scoring 26 goals across 95 matches for United in all competitions, with only four goals recorded in the previous Premier League campaign.
Head coach Ruben Amorim is strengthening his attacking options this summer. Matheus Cunha arrived from Wolverhampton Wanderers for £62.5 million ($83.8 million) and a proposal valued at up to £70 million ($93.9 million) has recently been made for Brentford's Bryan Mbeumo, raising doubts about Højlund's future prospects in Manchester.
Inter Milan recently withdrew their pursuit of Højlund but the Danish striker remains connected to a potential Serie A return as Sky Sports Italy identifies AC Milan as the newest interested party.
Reports suggest that Milan representatives have made contact to establish the financial requirements for securing Højlund. United's reaction to this inquiry has not been disclosed.

Although United are actively seeking to move five surplus players, the Red Devils are not believed to be eager to part with Højlund, though he is no longer considered indispensable at Old Trafford and suitable proposals would receive consideration for the Danish forward.
Amorim is reportedly interested in acquiring a new traditional striker, and such a signing could depend on the departure of either Højlund or Joshua Zirkzee.
Højlund retains positive recollections of Serie A, where his single campaign with Atalanta produced 10 goals in 34 appearances and persuaded United to make such a substantial investment in his talents during summer 2023, though he has openly expressed his wish to continue at Old Trafford past the summer.
The exact fee United would require to sell Højlund, whose deal extends until 2028 with an additional 12-month option, is yet to be determined. The Red Devils are presently focused on moving Jadon Sancho, Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho, Antony and Tyrell Malacia as their main priorities.
Rashford seeks a move to Barcelona but was recently courted by Juventus, who are advancing in discussions for Sancho. Antony remains hopeful for a return to Real Betis after former United manager Erik ten Hag declined to bring him to Bayer Leverkusen.
