Real Madrid Issued Stern Warning Over Michael Olise Pursuit

Bayern Munich president Herbert Hainer has made it clear to Real Madrid that Michael Olise is not available for transfer, as reports continue to circulate that the winger is Florentino Pérez's primary target this summer.

Pérez secured re-election as Real Madrid president on Sunday, defeating rival Enrique Riquelme with 65% of the vote. During his campaign, the 79-year-old pledged to make a club-record offer of €150 million ($175 million) for a "total Galáctico" this summer, contingent on retaining the presidency.

Although Pérez declined to identify his target, many have concluded the player in question is Bayern's Olise—despite Pérez explicitly denying it was the French winger during an appearance on Spanish TV program Horizonte.

Pérez—who has lined up José Mourinho to take charge of the club next season—has a track record of ambitious campaign pledges, most notably his promise to sign Luís Figo from Barcelona back in 2000.

Figo's name, alongside numerous other signings made during Pérez's tenure from Zinedine Zidane to Kylian Mbappé, featured on campaign posters across Madrid bearing the words "to be continued"—hinting at the arrival of yet another superstar this summer.

Real Madrid's Top Target Is Olise—But Bayern Won't Play Ball

Álvaro Carreras, Michael Olise

Olise has established himself as the frontrunner to become Real Madrid's next "Galáctico" following a remarkable season, during which he has netted 25 goals and contributed 27 assists for the Bundesliga champions.

Some reports indicate that Olise caught Pérez's eye during Madrid's Champions League quarterfinal exit against Bayern—a tie in which the former Crystal Palace man repeatedly troubled left back Álvaro Carreras.

Notably, incoming manager Mourinho was present at Bayern's DFB Cup final victory over Stuttgart in Berlin last month, further fueling speculation of an imminent bid.

However, Bayern have no intention of parting with Olise, with club president Herbert Hainer firmly dismissing any prospect of a sale. "Michael Olise is a player for FC Bayern Munich who still has a long contract—and we are not a selling club," he told BILD.

"Should Florentino Pérez wish to send us an offer—which hasn't happened so far—he can save himself the effort."

BILD's report also notes that Bayern's other key decision makers, including sporting directors Max Eberl and Christoph Freund, share the view that Olise is "unsellable".

Meanwhile, club legend and board member Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has stated: "He can look as hard as he likes at Olise, he won't get him. He remains unsellable.

"There is no price that would make us consider selling a player like Olise."

Could Madrid Push Through a Sale?

Florentino Pérez

Bayern's strong stance is unlikely to be sufficient to derail what could quickly develop into a drawn-out transfer saga this summer.

Pérez needs to give fans something to celebrate after two underwhelming seasons and cannot afford to lose credibility after making such a bold campaign pledge. If Olise truly is his intended target, this story shows every sign of dragging on throughout the summer.

There has been no indication yet from Olise's representatives regarding his interest in the potential move, which will ultimately prove decisive in how events unfold.

The 24-year-old Frenchman, who joined Bayern for €55 million ($64 million) in the summer of 2024, is contracted to the Bavarian club until 2029.

Only two players in history have commanded transfer fees exceeding €150 million ($175 million): Kylian Mbappé and Neymar. Nevertheless, Pérez may need to raise his potential offer even further to stand any chance of persuading Bayern to part with their prized asset.

Following such an exceptional club campaign, a strong World Cup performance could place Olise in serious contention for this year's Ballon d'Or—an accolade last claimed by a Real Madrid player in 2022.

Alternative Targets

Enzo Fernández

With Pérez yet to publicly reveal his "Galáctico" target, he has retained some flexibility should he need to shift focus away from a deal for Olise.

If the French winger does prove impossible to prise away from Bayern, Madrid could look to several other high-profile alternatives to serve as the summer's marquee signing to mark Pérez's re-election and Mourinho's arrival.

Paris Saint-Germain pair João Neves and Vitinha have both been mentioned in recent weeks as potential answers to Madrid's lack of a deep-lying playmaker. Chelsea's Enzo Fernández has also been linked, with the Argentine available for £120 million ($160 million).

Should he opt to strengthen the flanks instead, Pérez could also pursue PSG's Désiré Doué or even his club teammate Khvicha Kvaratskhelia—though the latter's preference for the left side makes him a less probable option.

When it comes to Madrid and Pérez, one thing remains constant: no target is considered out of reach.
