Real Madrid Launch Disciplinary Probe After Violent Valverde-Tchouameni Clash Leaves Player With Traumatic Brain Injury

Real Madrid have confirmed that the club has launched disciplinary proceedings against Aurélien Tchouaméni and Federico Valverde, following a confrontation at the club's training facility that left the Uruguayan international hospitalized with a traumatic brain injury.

The two players were at the center of an incident during Wednesday's training session, which escalated further the following day into a physical confrontation. Real Madrid issued an official statement on Thursday evening confirming that an investigation into the matter is underway.

"Real Madrid announces that, following the incidents that took place this morning during the first team's training session, the club has decided to open disciplinary files on players Federico Valverde and Aurélien Tchouaméni," the statement read.

"The club will provide updates regarding the outcomes of both proceedings once the relevant internal processes have been concluded."

Reports that Valverde had been taken to hospital following the altercation with the French midfielder quickly spread across social media. While nothing has been officially confirmed, several sources suggest that Valverde struck his head against a table during the scuffle with Tchouaméni.

Shortly after announcing disciplinary action, Real Madrid published a further statement providing an update on Valverde's medical condition.

"Following the examinations carried out today on our player Fede Valverde by the Real Madrid medical team, he has been diagnosed with cranioencephalic trauma," the statement read.

"Valverde is at home in a stable condition and will require rest for 10 to 14 days, in accordance with the medical protocols for this type of diagnosis."

With that recovery window in mind, Valverde will be unavailable for El Clásico against Barcelona this weekend, a match in which Real Madrid must claim victory over their fierce rivals — or face the humiliation of watching the Catalans clinch the La Liga title on their own turf, leaving Los Blancos without a single trophy this season.
