Real Madrid Ready To Pull The Trigger On Four Tempting Buyback Clauses This Summer

Very few youngsters leave Real Madrid's iconic Bernabéu without a buy-back clause being written into their transfer agreement.

La Fábrica generates such a wealth of talent that many young players are inevitably pushed to seek opportunities elsewhere, but Madrid are reluctant to approve departures without retaining the option to recall those players—should they go on to thrive away from the club.

Buy-back clauses enable Los Blancos to re-acquire their academy products at predetermined, discounted fees—a strategy that has served them well in the past. As the current season draws to a close, they face decisions regarding another group of recently sold youngsters.

Here are the four players Madrid could soon be calling back.

Nico Paz

Nico Paz

Nico Paz had already made a strong impression at Madrid before joining Italian newcomers Como two summers ago. A series of standout performances for Real Madrid Castilla earned him four appearances with the senior squad, during which he scored and showed enough promise to convince Cesc Fàbregas of his quality.

Fàbregas's confidence in the versatile attacker, capable of operating as an attacking midfielder or right winger, was quickly justified. Instrumental in Como's rise, Paz registered 14 goal contributions in his first season in Italy—a tally the 21-year-old has already eclipsed this term as he helps push the Serie A club toward Champions League qualification.

Paz's creativity and technical brilliance have been on full display, and his consistently outstanding performances have earned him six Argentina caps so far—and quite possibly a place in Lionel Scaloni's World Cup roster.

Unsurprisingly, the opportunity to re-sign Paz for just $12.5 million (€10.6 million) this summer will likely be too attractive to pass up, even with Madrid already having Jude Bellingham and Arda Güler as No.10 options. Given that Premier League clubs have been linked with the forward for roughly five times that figure, it's an obvious move for Los Blancos—even if he's quickly flipped for a substantial profit.

Jacobo Ramón

Jacobo Ramón

Como has also proven to be a productive setting for another ex-Madrid prospect, Jacobo Ramón. The center-back made just six appearances for Los Blancos before being sent to Italy at the start of this season, where the Spaniard has blossomed as he looks to fulfill his potential.

Ramón has featured in 31 matches across all competitions for the impressive Como side, standing out with his physicality, aerial ability, and passing range—qualities that could persuade Madrid to bring him back for an attractive $9.4 million this summer.

The 21-year-old would not walk straight into Madrid's starting lineup, but could offer valuable depth in a defensive unit that is thin on options and has been repeatedly hit by injuries. David Alaba is expected to leave the Bernabéu this summer, Antonio Rüdiger could follow him out the door, and Éder Militão's injury history makes him an unreliable presence.

Madrid could do far worse than bringing Ramón back to strengthen their defensive options.

Victor Muñoz

Víctor Muñoz

Victor Muñoz is yet another academy product who was afforded limited chances at Madrid—hardly a surprise given that he is a natural left winger. Competing against the likes of Vinicius Junior, Kylian Mbappé, and Rodrygo for a place in the attack was always going to result in a move elsewhere in search of regular playing time.

Osasuna came in for the talented 22-year-old, who has had a breakout campaign with the Spanish club. Seven La Liga goal involvements and a string of eye-catching displays on the wing even earned him his first Spain call-ups during the March international window, with Muñoz netting on his debut against Serbia.

Muñoz would encounter the same familiar obstacles upon returning to Madrid for just $10.6 million at season's end, with minutes likely to remain scarce regardless of who is in the dugout next term—but Barcelona's reported interest in the youngster could push Los Blancos into making a move.

The best path for Muñoz's development, however, almost certainly lies in continuing his progress in Pamplona.

Chema Andrés

Chema Andrés

Chema Andrés falls into the same category of players who need more time to grow away from Madrid. The 20-year-old defensive midfielder joined Stuttgart last summer and has had an impressive debut season in the Bundesliga, displaying the kind of potential that has previously drawn comparisons to Ballon d'Or winner Rodri.

Chema has not been a consistent starter for Stuttgart, but has already accumulated 34 appearances in a holding midfield role. The Spaniard has largely impressed when given the opportunity, even if his game still needs refinement to secure a regular place in the German club's starting eleven.

$15.3 million would bring Chema back to the Bernabéu in 2026—a fee that climbs to $18.9 million the following year—and the midfielder has openly stated that he would be "delighted to return to Madrid" down the line, putting the decision squarely in his former club's hands.

The Spain U-21 international would benefit from at least one more season at Stuttgart, though continuing his growth at Madrid remains an enticing prospect for both parties.
